Your best card games

Off on holidays today - no wifi, no TV! I've bought 2 sets of cards but have realised that I have zero recollection of any of the card games I've played in the past.

There are 6 of us. Can you tell me your best card games and how to play them?!

Well 2 of you can play Patience when you have all got fed with each other and fallen out!

Maybe get 4 more packs of cards - just in case!

Racing demons. Each player needs their own deck. Google how to play, that'll explain it better than I can! Spoons. 31.

TroysMammy · 23/07/2024 09:06

Snap! That's the only one I know the rules to.

We love Shithead (also called China Hand, Ten-Two Slide, Karma, Palace or Shed). Played all the time in our house.

Is it for children too? Family games we play are crazy eights and garbage - rules for garbage here https://www.whatdowedoallday.com/garbage-card-game/

My 6 and 9 year old happily play both of those and with the older we play ‘golf’ (rules from the same website above)

if just us we tend to play rummy. Years ago I’d spend hours playing spit and stop the bus with school friends, must look up the rules to those again.

How to Play Garbage Card Game

Garbage card game is an easy family game that a wide range of ages will enjoy. It also helps preschoolers working on number recognition.

Canasta! Whist. Estimates. Crazy eights.

Old maid (joker is old maid, pair black cards that are the same number/picture and red cards that are the same number/picture).

Sevens (Seven cards each, players must lay one card (if they can) and then must pick up from the draw pile every turn whether they can go or not. Seven has to be laid first for each suit then 8 or 6 can be added until you get all the way to king/ace. Whoever gets rid of all their cards first wins).

Going to steal that one, thanks!

Switch (which is basically UNO but played with a standard deck)

Newmarket (brings back memories of caravan holidays with all my cousins’.
