Rubbish reward schemes

I must have about 30 plastic/virtual cards and the only ones I ever seem to benefit from are Tesco, Boots and Waterstones mainly. Nectar and Morrisons for the odd shop and occasional £5 off.
TK maxx - what is the point? Superdrug - every time I've checked I've seen an expired reward. M&S - money off things I've either literally just bought or would never buy (meat when I'm vegan).
Any decent/terrible ones? I'm going to cut up the rest I think.

Lidl’s is worth it if it’s your main shop - once you hit £250 spend in a month you get 10% off your next shop and if you time it right you can do that as a stock up at the start of the next month. I also get quite a few little freebies like loaves of bread, ice cream etc. Not much but stuff you’d use.

Mydogisagentleman · 23/07/2024 07:00

I only use tesco, nectar and I have recently discovered 10% off with Iceland on a particular day if you are 60+.

IncognitoUsername · 23/07/2024 07:10

Tesco and CoOp are the only ones I use now. Boots used to be good but they have changed the rules now and the last two times I tried to use them I was told the products I was buying were not applicable!

Since I stopped using a wallet and started keeping my two debit cards, driver’s licence and gym card in my phone wallet, I don’t have a single reward card. I can’t say I miss any of them. Actually, I do have one from our local farm shop which involves free sausages, but that’s pretty niche.

I think the Asda Rewards app leaves all the others in the dust!

100% this. I just do my normal big shop at Asda and get money off. I don't tailor my shopping to the star products just what I need and still get money off.

Increasingly supermarkets make you pay inflated prices for things, if you don’t have one. Thinking Sainsburys, Tesco and Co-Op.
It shouldn’t be allowed

I'm still trying to complete my first Green Shield Stamp book. No-one seems to do them anymore, and I had set my heart on an orange plastic serviette ring with a yellow flower on it. (There was a set of six but as I live alone and never entertain I only needed one).

Too be honest I didn't like licking the stamps anyway, I didn't like the taste. Although I discovered if one rubbed the back with a small piece of cheese, Binky (the cat) would lick them for me.

Ah well, I might as well consign that book to the bin, and anyway Binky passed away (glue addiction) and I might investigate these new fangled reward cards that are being talking about.

I agree Asda, Tescos and Lidl are the best. Perhaps I don't spend enough at morrisons but I feel like theirs is no good.

OneFrenchEgg · 23/07/2024 07:52

Oh maybe I should get the Asda one , that must be quite recent.
Thinking I might just ditch the rest and free up some space!
TK Maxx is so weird, like earn points to enter a prize draw. Iceland is have to wait a decade for the discount (although they offered it to me recently 😮)

Just checked Superdrug - three expired rewards and I need to spend £80 to get the next one Grin

Add them to your phone wallet and you won't need to carry the physical cards.

My favourite us ASDA rewards, builds up so quickly. Last year I had the Christmas shop almost free as it was particularly generous at the beginning.
I like Boots one especially when there are extra points but it is not as great as it used to be.
Agree re Superdrug.
Tesco and Sainsburys I only use to get the lower prices and because they occasionally send extra vouchers. However never seem to get a significant amount in rewards

needhelpwiththisplease · 23/07/2024 08:31

I only use Tesco club card.
I save all my vouchers and use them to buy lots of lovely food every January.
I've got £70 saved so far this year

I won my shopping for free using my M&S Sparks card. Usually get extremely random offers like 5p off if spending £20 on eggs or something equally useless. I was contemplating binning it and then at the checkout the assistant told me the price and then said oh you've got it all free today.
It's never happened since but I live in hope.

Oh that's amazing! Well done

We use lidl for shopping and get 2 x 10% off a shop every month. Asda I don't use at all tbh. Tesco I get vouchers because I fill up there and have phone contracts with them. Morrisons was fab when it started years ago. Superdrug hit and miss. Boots a bit better. I just leave those to build up. But yeah mostly they're naff for us
