I keep seeing cars with what looks like magnifying glass on dash

I've only seen it with cars driving past me so not 100% sure but what is it? On the dash between steering wheel and window, a square piece of what looks like it could be magnifying glass? Or could be a visor??

Probably a heads up display - it projects their speed etc on to the windscreen.

Just googled and that seems rihht. Would never have guessed! Surely that's distracting though??

No, we have one and it's quite low and i actually find it less distracting than glancing down to check dashboard.
