Someone has somehow set up a business from my house

I have contacted Companies House and told them, and I have also put any correspondence back in the post with a 'Not this address!' note on it.

But, is there anything else I should do?

And could anyone tell me what are the implications of this?
If you google the business it comes up as registered at my house.
My house is on a small street in a village-no businesses on it at all, no shops or commercial activity of any kind! I don't understand it.

Apparently CH take ages to acknowledge anything of this kind. And still I keep getting letters and advertisements for this business.

Can you can apply to be able to make changes to the details and they will send a code to your house in a letter so you can delete it

There was an episode of You & Yours about this on R4 a few months ago! Let me try and find it for you.

We had this and had to fill out a form, as per PP - pretty straightforward tbh and no bother since.

There was a spate of them around where I live. It happened to a friend and he had to complete a form to get it removed from his address.

Thank you for this.

Thank you, and for all the responses.

Could someone tell me what the point of doing this is? What do they gain from it?

You can't do this. Or you can but it's not legal or ethical. And I know it wasn't ethical for the person who registered the company in the first place. Companies House will write to the director (CH will have the home address) and tell them to change it. They have to allow some time so It won't be instant unless the director responds quickly. It may have been a genuine error. Most post to a company will be junk, unless Companies House or HMRC so bin them.

Haha oh yes that's what some people would do! I kind of feel like doing that Grin but I won't.

Fraud usually. Applying for credit.

Thanks, that makes sense. A bit perturbing though that this is going on with my address!

I came across this at work last year. The people affected were understandably unnerved, but Companies House acted pretty quickly in removing their address, and in the end it seemed like they were just chosen through bad luck (rather than being carefully targeted). I hope the same for you, OP, and that it's easily behind you soon.
