DD (19) is travelling to Menorca in a couple of weeks. She'll be staying with family as she does most summers.
I've read that they are clamping down on visitors who can't prove where they are staying and she is supposed to get a 'carta de invitación'. This would be straight forward if a hotel or similar as you can just print out your booking confirmation, but if it's a residential address, the host is supposed to go to an official building, make an appointment, apply for the invitation etc. Our spanish family are, with the greatest respect, very relaxed (and working) and think this is ridiculous and un-necessary.
Has anyone travelled to Menorca recently and had to show this? Especially if you've been staying in residential accommodation? DD will stress about this until she leaves and I don't want her being held up at the airport... but equally, DHs family are hosting her and will look after her very well, so I can't nag them if they know for a fact it's bureaucratic nonsense...
