I'm going to have a break from drinking

I don't think I have a problem, as such, I don't drink everyday or even every weekend, but enjoy a drink and once I start I'm not great at stopping. I don't do anything outrageous, but I've decided I want to lose fewer days to hangovers.

The trouble is, a lot of my social life is based around boozy events. I don't mind being the only one sober, I drive quite often anyway, but there's nothing I actually want to drink if I'm not "drinking".

I don't like sugary, fizzy drinks. My choice would be tap water or tea, but even then, there's a limit. Sometimes I have OJ mixed with fizzy water, but one is enough. The alcohol free versions all seem a bit pointless.

What do you have when you're not drinking?

I just drink soda water, cant stand other fizzy drinks as they taste too sweet to me.

Virgin Mary
Coke, Irn Bru, tea, water and a lot of coffee!!

In your situation if attending a night out, I would probably have pop, and none alcoholic cocktails.

Tonic water with ice and lemon

I'm going to a thing this weekend. My friends will be fine if I just ask for water, others will raise an eyebrow. Is it weird to ask for tap water in a G&T glass?

Soda water and lemon, ginger ale, tonic water or soda water and bitters but no gin. Kombucha if it's the sort of place that does that. Iced tea.

The alcohol free guinness is very good if you like that sort of thing.

I usually have a couple Heineken 0% if I want to feel included especially in a relaxing social scene but if not I'll have a Diet Coke (rarely).

I don't touch non-alcoholic wine cos it's gross but will also have non-alcoholic G&T if they've got a decent non-alcoholic menu. I never need more than one though.
