Have you got an airfryer?

I've been sucked in with the reels on Insta, the food always looks quick and amazing.

It would be a sacrifice to find thr space for one, so I'm torn. Do you have one? Is it a fad or do you use it regularly? Any particular recommendations?

I was undecided for ages. I ended up getting the ninja health grill and air fryer. ( with flat plate ) . So far we have been impressed.

The kids have said Fishfingers chips and pizza better. I did amazing American pancakes and salmon toasties. I will be able to do lasagna , shepherds pie and tray bakes as the pan is rectangular.
You definitely can do bacon - it’s in the guide.
We will probably cook quite a bit of meat and fish with ours.

Ourdearoldqueen · 22/07/2024 08:15

How does cheese on toast work? Do you have to toast the bread first?

What is the issue with bacon?

TheKingCobraIsNotStrictlySpeakingACobra · 22/07/2024 08:16

We have a ninja 15-in-1

bloody love it. Use it daily. But I tend to use the slow cooker and pressure cooker more than the air fryer.

Mine does bacon amazingly, but in sauté mode.

Allthegoodnamesarechosen · 22/07/2024 08:17

Yes: would you like it? We’ve used it four times.

We have a combi microwave , and the air fryer is slower , even if we are only using the convection oven function. You can put serving dishes in the combi, so ultimately less cleaning, as well.

I understand that if you only have a standard oven, the air fryer saves on energy, but it uses more than the combi for a main meal ( serving four people sometimes).

And the chips, onion rings, tempura prawns were rubbish compared to the deep fat fryer.

Would you like mine, because I would like to get it out of the cupboard ?

Ifailed · 22/07/2024 08:18

I've a small kitchen with cupboards above the worktop. I couldn't have one as there is nowhere safe to use it, unless I plonk it on the hob!

WetBandits · 22/07/2024 08:18

Yep, I honestly don’t know when I last switched on the oven! 😂 we do put it back in the cupboard every night though because it’s ugly Blush

LaWench · 22/07/2024 08:18

I have a multi cooker (Ninja) I use it every day. Especially the air fryer or grill mode. It's a big heavy expensive piece of kit but has made cooking so easy. Also the clean up, not having to scrub an oven is bliss. It's harder for a big family to cook maybe something like fish and chips all in an airfryer due to the size. I'm after a second one, maybe a dual drawer one to use whilst the ninja is on steam or pressure cook mode.

Mrsredlipstick · 22/07/2024 08:19

@lovemycbf i cook bacon on the rack on Sunday mornings then use the drippings for roast potatoes later that day (delicious) Mine gets washed up nearly every day. It's never smoked.
I haven't read anywhere no bacon but I've only got American books.

Mine lives on the hob. Handy for steam mode to go out of the extractor fan. We only use the hob for frying eggs which isn't often, everything else is cooked in the ninja foodie max.

MouseofCommons · 22/07/2024 08:21

Yes, only a small one. Got it last summer when they were all cheap.
There's just me and two teens. It's mainly used for hash browns, French fries and small portions of fishfingers. Really handy when the dc's eat separately. Nearly created a croissant when I tried air frying it though....

usernother · 22/07/2024 08:22

Ours is used every day.

Mrsredlipstick · 22/07/2024 08:24

@Ourdearoldqueen
Toast the bread first in the fryer at 200c, put the cheese on and leave for another 5-7 minutes. Easier to clean than a grill pan.

WeregoingtoIbiza · 22/07/2024 08:26

I have 3 🙈😂 I have the ninja 15 in 1 and then I bought the health grill which I use daily. The temperature probe is great for cooking steaks.

I've recently bought the ninja flex drawer to keep at the caravan. It can be used as two separate drawers or one big one, which is perfect for us.

I cook all sorts in mine, chilli, shepherds pie, roast chicken, roast potatoes, steak, fajitas, jacket potatoes, bacon and much more. It's not all chicken nuggets and chips.

High fat content in bacon means it's a smoke and fire risk.

Also if you put a lot in together it can be unevenly cooked. On an actual grill it wouldn't over lap.

hammering · 22/07/2024 08:26

I got one a few months ago, I use it a lot.

I cook chicken thighs in it, chips, roasted veg, roast potatoes, salmon. Anything I might do in the oven goes in the air fryer. I haven't used the bake function yet tho.

Look at the ninja flex drawer. It can be used the same as the duel or you can remove the divider and use as one big drawer.

Please can people say what they cook in it. As a pp said, most of what I've heard from friends is that you can do chips, chicken nuggets and those kinds of packet processed things that go in the oven.

Edited

Meat is really good, chicken breast/ kebabs, pork steak, salmon, bacon, sausages. Roasted veg, cauliflower cheese, pies, homemade wedges. Mine has bake mode for bread and cakes and steam mode for veg, fish. Pressure cook for rice, pasta, stews, bolognaise, chilli, pulled pork etc. Grill mode for crisping microwaved jacket potatoes, or cheese on toast.

I don't cook chips in it, prefer the deep fat fryer for those. We rarely have them though.

Coastalcreeksider · 22/07/2024 08:30

I regularly cook salmon, have baked a cake in it, use it for bacon, sausages, pies, roast potatoes/veg, casseroles, chops, homemade chips, cauliflower cheese, baked potatoes. The only thing I haven't used is the rotisserie function.

ineedtogwtoutbeforeitatoohot · 22/07/2024 08:33

How do you manage without one ?

caringcarer · 22/07/2024 08:34

I have 2. 1 for meat and 1 vegetarian one. I used them every day.

muddyford · 22/07/2024 08:36

I got a cheap one from Amazon Warehouse (damaged packaging) as I wasn't sure how much I would use it. I have done salmon, pork steaks, sausages, fishcakes, chicken breast, roast potatoes, jacket potatoes and other things, mostly when it's not worth putting on a huge oven . Favourite thing is eggs baked in cream, a real faff any other way and now a weekly treat. I use it about as often as the microwave but for different things.

username47985 · 22/07/2024 08:39

I was really skeptical and was gifted a very small, cheap one. It was great. We rarely used the oven. Recently upgraded to a double draw ninja and it's absolutely fab.

BigBundleOfFluff · 22/07/2024 08:40

I have the tower one with shelves. Since getting it over a year ago I've used my oven once!
I even do toast in mine - the wire shelves make everything crispy so once my toaster goes I'll not be replacing that.
