Can anyone tell me why Lando Norris had to give up first place today in the race? Thanks

I think there was a team agreement before the race that if they were in a 1-2 position after the final pit stops played out, then whoever was in the lead before the pit stops would be ‘allowed’ to win.

It was because the driver in front has first dibs on coming in for tyres. Nando wasn’t in front but team decided to bring him in first to prevent Verstappen/Hamilton from the undercut (coming out of the pits before him).

That meant Oscar Piastri was at a disadvantage and technically should have in front.

I’m not sure I’ve explained it very well. Oscar should have won and ultimately did.
