i have myself all worked up. I’ve been having some unusual vaginal bleeding for past number of weeks. Dr advised to get urine tested (among other things). Left urine sample in on Friday, dipped it an said positive for lukozytes and blood in urine but sample wasn’t enough to send off to lab so need redone but looks like a uti? Since then I’ve been having cramps and sore lower back. Have scared myself wirh stories online of untreated uti (I’ve never had one before). Should I be contacting our of hours dr in morning or just wait until Monday? Thanks

I've never had a UTI which hasn't given me an urgent feeling like I need to pee (even more so right after I have peed) and pain when I do. But I've heard it can be possible.

I've been told the warning sign for UTI's travelling northwards to say kidneys is a fever, without it but when I've had cramps I've just been given antibiotics.

You should probably ring 111 for peace of mind (assuming UK) but without a temperature showing infection I imagine the first step is the urine sample test to identify the bacteria so they can treat if that's what it is. So I'm not sure what the out of hours could realistically do.

Most UTIs that go untreated just get better on their own rather than develop into kidney disease so I wouldn't panic unnecessarily. However you could go along to the chemist tomorrow, I'm not sure where you live but where I live you have to check the rota to see which chemist is open on a Sunday and it will only be for a couple of hours. Probably different in cities I'm sure. Anyway chemists can treat UTIs now so they will help you. If you develop a temperature or have severe pain or vomiting then seek urgent care. Hopefully not though! Feel better soon!

Is it possible that you have a kidney stone causing the bleeding and back pain?

I seem to be suffering with regular UTIs at the moment (have one now 🫤), and my symptoms are very mild, but they have come and gone over the last 7 days. Generally I don’t get the urgency (maybe one or twice), and there is no pain/bleeding on this occasion.

I thought it had cleared, but it is lingering, so I decided to order my antibiotics online from Superdrug. You just simply fill in an online form, pay £23 and they are ready for collection 3 hrs later.

I know it is now Sunday, but it may be worth looking to see if there is a similar service with a different pharmacy available (I believe Superdrug pharmacy is closed today).

I hope you feel better soon 💐
