Keep or bin sleepyhead deluxe

I’m pregnant (first time mum) and very kindly been gifted a sleepyhead deluxe. To be honest it looked like a suffocation / overheating hazard to me and I don’t think I would want to leave baby in it even supervised…I risk assess a lot for my job so maybe a little OTT!! I googled it and read it’s been linked to quite a few infant deaths. It’s also huge and takes up space, and I’ve already got Moses basket and cot. Partner was upset when I suggested we might not need it. Should I keep or donate? Feeling a Bit overwhelmed with all the baby stuff and in need of a good declutter in general….must be the ‘nesting’ everyone keeps telling me about!

You've made the right decision. Someone also offered us one for our newborn (that was potentially third hand by that point) and they had been using it in their adult bed to co sleep. I didn't say anything but I felt that was more risky than normal co sleeping.

We were blessed with a newborn that woke every hour to feed and for the first few weeks (a month?) would not be put down. It was brutal. I was the sleep deprived mother crying and going mad. My husband and I slept in shifts. If we had the sleepyhead there I think I'd have tried it out of desperation. I'm glad we didn't. A lot of people will tell you they are essential but they weren't even around maybe 10/20 years ago and you find a way to survive.

Baby bjorn bouncer is perfect as a safe place for baby. I was gutted when ours outgrew it.

@peonyjam i was worried about using it incorrectly if we were desperate too! If it’s not there then there isn’t that risk. Baby bouncers and Moses baskets have been used safely for years so I don’t understand why this would even be needed…it’s just a fashion thing. It seems way too narrow and enclosed with those big squishy sided

@Bobbieiris @UnderMontanaSkies previous poster has pointed you in a good direction.
I'd advise a baby carrier with isofix perhaps maxi cosi brand up until 12m then a britax or axkid which will see you upto age 6. X
