This programme may cause distress...

Why is it that nearly everything on TV 'may cause distress'? After a stressful day, all I want to watch is something that'll make me laugh. I gave up watching soaps because of all the arguing and violence, but it seems pretty much everything has something terrible happening in it. Isn't life bad enough - shouldn't TV be light relief?

Also, why is the early evening news showing stuff that may cause distress, couldn't they gloss over that stuff and only show details of the horrific stuff later when children would be asleep?

I do watch Netflix etc - but even there I'm fairly limited with options. I don't mind things that are gritty just not distressful :/

I've noticed that too. Nae joy, just gritty, tense, unhappy dramas everywhere!

Even light hearted comedies nowadays sometimes feel like a lecture on some heavy topic, instead of just silliness
