Murder mystery film recommendations

My 11 year old is really into murder mysteries at the moment. We’ve watched knives out/glass onion, both murder mystery films with Jennifer Anniston, and the recent poirot ones.

any other recommendations that would be suitable?

Midsomer Murders off the telly. Bit less glamorous than that Knives Out stuff though. The Neil Dudgeon ones from the past few years are preferable to the old Bergerac ones. Loads to choose from and you can pick a subject that appeals.

The Agatha Christie adaptations are the obvious suggestion.

BunfightBetty · 20/07/2024 20:04

Slightly different, but might they enjoy Jonathan Crreek?

Or, more recently, Magpie Murders? Or Endeavour?

Murder on the orient express and death on the Nile

Edited to add: sorry have just realised you said you’ve watched the Poirot ones.

Only murders in the building?

delilabell · 20/07/2024 20:10

Feature length marples?

ReframeFeelings · 20/07/2024 20:12

She MUST watch Broadchurch... Though nothing will ever match it!

Line of Duty.

Deadloch

The Killing

agatha raison? i want to say

Idontgiveagriffindamn · 20/07/2024 20:35

My 11 year old has just finished all of the death paradise series. Absolutely loved it

MissKittyFantastico84 · 20/07/2024 20:47

Do not let an 11 year old anywhere near The Killing. Jeez. That show is very dark.

Gosford Park is a mystery mixed with Downtown Abbey.

If you liked Glass Onion, you could watch the TV show Poker Face!

Same director and same arch sense of humour, and neatly inspired by Columbo. Quite light in tone as well, despite all the murder. I loved it!

OMG how could I forget the wonder that is Veronica Mars!!!!

It's a masterpiece, and they are just the right age. Some adult themes, but handled in a very Young Adult appropriate way.

Zampa · 20/07/2024 20:50

See How They Run on Amazon Prime.

In fact don't let her near any of my suggestions! For some reason I totally didn't see the age part. 🙈

@MissKittyFantastico84 Really looking forward to the next series of Poker Face. I loved it - very nice, light deft touch. Natalie Lyoness was just perfect.

Tezza1 · 20/07/2024 21:06

Or at least Natasha Lyonne is.

lilyathena · 20/07/2024 21:42

Enola Holmes would be perfect and age appropriate I think. Also the modern 'Sherlock' series which all mine have loved at about age 13-14. It's so clever how they have managed to develop and reference the original Conan Doyle stories in the series.

Izzynohopanda · 20/07/2024 21:44

Shakespeare and Hathaway tv series - cozy mystery series (BBC)

BringMeTea · 20/07/2024 21:48

Gosford Park is a good shout.
