Perimenopause without HRT

I'm quite an emotionally resilient person. I feel like I have taken some drugs and I am now on a bad trip except that I haven't and it's going to last seven more years.

My question is for those that went through menopause without HRT, did you manage to do so without hating people?

I feel like there is a nice aspect to it i.e. not caring what anyone thinks. How do I get to this part please? 😂 Is it reinventing myself? Happy to do that.

Also are there any highly amusing podcasts about perimenopause?

I'm not interested in anything serious about miracle cures, as I can't have HRT, I don't want to spend £5,000 on expensive supplements over the next decade, and am happy with my strength training and diet and the few vitamins I take. But ahh the rage.

I'm going follow this in case someone pops along with something.

I instinctively want to manage menopause without HRT. Like you, I'm an emotionally resilient person who has been lucky enough not to suffer significant anxiety or depression despite periods of considerable stress and some significant trauma, so I am hoping I won't be prone to these as a result of fluctuating hormones.

What I can't bear is the brain fog and what is becoming chronically low blood pressure, resulting in faints and 'funny turns'. My job is physically and mentally full on all the time, so I worry I'm becoming a liability!

Luckily no rage, that must be really rough!

I did. I started peri very early, and was fully menopausal at 42. I suffered crazy hot flashes for years. Looking back, I should probably taken HRT, but of course you have no idea how long the symptoms will last. At the time I was first having signs of peri-m, there were studies showing higher rates of certain cancers, so after a discussion with my doctor, I went through it au naturel.

But i didn't have any other symptoms really, so just got on with it. All my layered clothing had zippers instead of buttons since it was easier to pull off in a hurry!

Do you drink alcohol? Giving up completely has really helped for me.

My answer is - No.

Embrace the hatred. It'll iron itself out in time and turn to ambivalence.
