1 year old chipped tooth - worried!!

My 17 month old slipped and wacked his mouth on the side of the bathroom sink this morning. He cut his tongue which bled, I fed him (breast) and it stopped bleeding. However, his chipped his front tooth and I'm worried sick it's going to die/turn grey/impact his adult teeth formation. We are going on a family holiday tomorrow morning, so husband is currently on hold with NHS but wanted to know if anyone experienced similar and what the outcome was please? The gum looks ok.

It might go grey either temporarily or permanently, but it's a milk tooth so will ultimately be fine. Take him to the dentist when you get back from holiday.

Chill out.

My eldest chipped both of his front two teeth when little from falling core and banging into things. It didn't look very nice but his teeth were fine. Adult teeth came in just fine. Keep an eye on it but most likely will be fine.

v common for this to happen- don’t fret. My eldest damaged a front tooth, it did discolour but it didn’t matter- barely seen and now lost in the mists of time 😀

My 5 year old ds chipped his front tooth at 1 - was a bigger chunk and looked like a canine! I like you was upset and worried. Sent photo to (private) dentist and he just said keep an eye on it but it’s been fine. The sharp edges have actually smoothed out over time people can’t even tell.

My DD bumped her front tooth at 4 year old and it went black. I was devasted as she’d had beautiful teeth. The dentist wouldn’t remove it as he said it can affect spacing as they get older. That tooth hung on till she was 7!!! However her adult tooth has grown in absolutely fine.

My DD chipped both front teeth aged 2 (at the bottom of the teeth). Her adult teeth are fine.
