I'm handing my notice in at work next week, I've only ever done this once before so I'm feeling really nervous about how the conversation is going to go 😬

Tell me about what happened when you last handed in your notice? I'm not sure what to expect.

I emailed my notice. It wasn't acknowledged. The manager only mentioned it on my last shift when he said he supposed he needed to give me an exit interview.

I left because I didn't feel valued there 🤣🤣 that summed up the way they were really.

Hope yours goes better than that!

That's awful that you weren't acknowledged but at least it confirmed you'd made the right decision!

I'm leaving because the senior managers are absolute ghouls and give me anxiety.

You'll panic for days and sit them down and tell them you're handing in your notice.

They'll say aw that's a shame, we will miss you, where are off to?

You say wherever and they'll say well that's a shame for us but a great opportunity for you, what date do you want to leave?

And soon it'll be as if you never worked there at all Smile

😂I think you're probably right there. The last time I handed in my notice the director at the time actually asked me not to leave and that was a really awkward conversation

I can find it quite upsetting!

My last one, my manager wasn't great but I liked him. I mostly work from home so I did it on a video call. No attempt to get me to stay, just asked why and wished me luck. Then I sent written notice to HR who haggled over my leaving date, saving themselves a day's pay.

A couple of jobs ago I handed in my notice as the company was going bust. I had accepted a new job and handed my notice in on the Friday. On Monday we heard the company was being bought. I had a chat with the new owner and their plans sounded good, so I asked if I could take back my notice and stay on. They accepted that, I went back to the job I had already accepted and said I'd changed my mind. Awkward. Six months later the new company wasn't what I thought it would be so I left anyway. That was a bit of a mess.
