I just spent an hour writing a post because I wanted to share my temporary accommodation journey. It took ages to write and I then accidentally touched the back button and lost all of it

I'm just going to share pictures . I will have to do it in a few parts as there's a few .

This is a reflection as I was housed over 2 years ago. But I saw photos and started thinking about it.

I was in 4 temporarys so theses picture are a mix of the places i stayed

Ok so I private rented for several years. I got a section 21. We had to go eviction route. Which took a while. All our stuff had to go into storage. Was sad to go as we had built up memories and landlord was lovely.

We were put into emgency/temporary accommodation. There was a dead rat in the boiler, the whole place stank like dead rodents . There were also mince and cockroaches.

I managed to find another private rent house was lovely. Landlady was really nice and friendly. My now ex moved in with me. That did not last long we split 6 months later. This meant I had to claim full housing benefit. My landlady completely turned on me she was really nasty to me and spoke to me like shit in her shoe. But spoke to my ex like he was god. She served me with a section 21 because. She did not want me there. Council / housing offered cash incentive to keep me there but she refused it. Even council lady said she came across in a horrible way. When eviction day happend I felt a massive relief to leave that house.

So once again our stuff went into storage . Me and kids went to council to sit there for hours. Not knowing where we would be staying. We were there till 6pm ish . Eventually got emgency accommodation our of the area. It was a lovely big flat in a big victorian house . It felt kind of posh 😅 with big sash windows almost floor to ceiling . Lovely bright rooms. Was getting up at 5.30/6 to get the kids to school every day it was awful. We was only there around 3 weeks. As I appealed the accommodation due to son doing gcse. And also other child having assments for ASD

We then got moved more local which was fantastic. This place was a flat above a take away. In the fast there were thousands of red ants they were everywhere. There were also mince. And beds with stains on them which looked like blood to me. It was gross. There was no double glazing there was really heavy traffic it barly let up even late at night. At the back of the flat was a night club it was awful. No one hardly slept .

We then got moved to a another temporary that was longer term . This was a house. The first night we were eaten by bed bugs it was awful. It went on for several weeks. Whilst treatment was taking place. My baby had bites all over him. Well everyone did. It felt dirty and gross. Eventually they went. We also had mice and rats.

I that house I pulled all the carpets up I used wire wool and expanding foam all round the edges of the skirting boards . I even filled gaps in the floor boards . I was to scared to gey I'm the loft so I used to throw potion in thete from the hatch. I pulled all the carpets up in the living room found quite alot oh holes especially round the fire place area. I filled all of them and all around skirting boards. I removed all the kitchen units and filled holes in the floor with foam and wire wall. I added wood on top to make it even harder for rodents to get in. I used mesh to cover air vents inside and out.

We could go rodent free for a while. We had a downstairs bathroom I was mot able to fill holes under the bath or the toilet area. We would sit on the loo and hear them running up and down where the pipes were boxed in. Same with the bath . It was awful.

My kids thought it was normal to have mice.😭
