How much should I pay man with a van

I need a man with a van to come and collect loads of cardboard I have, and an old carpet, and take it to the dump for me. I’m going to put an post on the local Facebook for it but how much should I say I will pay? And is cash in hand better? How do I avoid potential scams/someone saying I haven’t payed
TIA

We can stack as much cardboard beside our wheely bins as we like and they will take it, I'd try that first.

If you do need it taken, most important, check their waste licence before they take it or you pay, if they don't have one they will probably fly tip, and if it's traced to you then you are responsible and would be fined. I'd take a picture and ask for quotes.

I can't advise you on the cost, but please be aware that unless they have a waste license, chances are they will fly tip the rubbish. It could then be traced back to you and you would be fined. I have heard too many stories recently where this has happened.

Just ring the council, probably a long waiting time though.

Do you have a compost box? You can put it in there (if you haven't, then start one! They are brilliant for getting rid of waste (not if you live in a flat obvs).

Have a look on local fb groups for waste clearance. Look for someone with a licence. Don’t bother with a random. They invariably dump it and you’d get charged.
