Has anyone been to Ibiza and didn't enjoy it?

Just got back from 5 nights and just didn't enjoy it.
I mean it was okay but I wouldn't go back.
We stayed in San Antonio bay and only a 3 star hotel so maybe that was why.
Just seemed full of younger people and a few chavs (let's say )
I think we might have picked the wrong area of Ibiza
I'm not sure
We normally go to Greece /cyprus /gran Canaria so it was v different

Been twice, once as a young adult for clubbing once as a proper grown up. Ibiza is beautiful, but you need to plan how to spend your days, where to go, what to see etc,

TheBizzies · 19/07/2024 12:25

No one likes San Antonio bay!

TheRozzers · 19/07/2024 12:25

I loved living there in my 20s but I assume you weren't there for the music and clubbing?

I wouldn't choose San Antonio Bay for a family holiday. Too close to San Antonio.

Santa Eularia is lovely for families.

We only picked there as it was a last min deal and it was only £500pp for all inclusive
Normally we go for nicer hotels and I think that's what put a dampener on for me
We did a boat trip /mambos for sunset etc and was lovely but I just didn't get the same vibe of my other holidays

We stayed in San Antonio a few years back with the kids and it was really good the main reason there was no bunfight for sunbeds - the clubbers were probably only going to bed as we were getting up.

Interesting little thing I used to observe from my balcony. The cleaners at the hotel would throw inflatables /lilos down to the shopkeeper over the road. She would give them a quick jet wash then put them out the front for sale. Tidy little side hustle there.

doorsoors · 19/07/2024 12:33

@TheThingIsYeah ha ha yeah we got great sunbeds every morning
We were up at 8am and people just getting home in our hotel

Inc flights. That’s cheap as . Maybe it was your expectations.

It's a pretty rubbish part of Ibiza unless you're 18 that's why 😕

Turmerictolly · 19/07/2024 13:25

Ibiza is beautiful and has some really lovely spots. Unfortunately you picked the wrong place but don't write it off. Maybe try a different resort and better hotel if you go again. Especially Niu Blau beach near Santa Eulalia was great. Two simple beach restaurants and a very trendy low key bar playing amazing chilled music. Platjas Comte and Porroig beaches also nice but a bit busier. I think you need to hire a car to see the nicer places.

Anyone else want to know where the OP got such an amazing deal! I’d pack my bags and be there

xxSideshowAuntSallyxx · 19/07/2024 13:33

I stayed in San Antonio Bay, nice little hotel, no fights for the sunbeds, right on the beach. I was there for a wedding so didn't actually do touristy things. It was quite basic mind you but it was clean and well looked after

I do think next time I go I'll go for a more luxurious hotel but I didn't spend much time there as others had a villa with a pool and bbq and there was a bar across the road that did cocktails and decent food at a reasonable price.

Nap1983 · 19/07/2024 13:38

Ibiza as an Island is beautiful, many lovely areas! San Antonio… mostly young people getting pissed and taking drugs… I felt old in SA when i was 30

doorsoors · 19/07/2024 13:53

Well our flights were Ryanair and they were £60 return (under seat bag only )
Our hotel was £430 all inclusive (vibra san remo ) it's San Antonio bay
Basic but food was nice

Well you can't really complain then and say you didn't like Ibiza. Did you go out and explore the island at all?

longdistanceclaraclara · 19/07/2024 14:07

Love Ibiza. Wouldn't go near San An. I did that when I was younger. Going back next week.

I think the party vibe has changed from when I was young anyway.

Pieceofpurplesky · 19/07/2024 15:07

San Antonio is for the kids! Other areas are fantastic.

828Pax · 19/07/2024 15:39

I went when I was 18 and hated it then!

NoodleNuts · 19/07/2024 15:45

I went to Cala Llonga a few year back - it was as boring as hell. Luckily we were only there for 4 days, I couldn't wait to leave!

Day time we visited Ibiza Town and Santa Eulalia but in the evening, there wan't much to do or anywhere to go.
