I’m a Twat

DS(6 almost) has a ‘crazy hair’/non uniform day for the last day of term. I suggested putting some wash out hair colour in his hair seeing as it’s almost the summer holidays and it won’t matter if it hangs around for a week or two. Plus by the end of the summer it will have grown out anyway, no big deal. Or so I thought. He seemed very up for it and excited. It’s a few streaks of green, not a whole head colour.

Being the impulsive ADHD type of autistic this seemed like a brilliant idea to me. I forgot that DS is not the same kind of autistic as me and novelty is not for him. Despite wanting it, the change has now caused a meltdown.

I feel like a shitty parent. I’m the adult. I should have known better.

My morning tomorrow is going to be scrubbing a screaming child with washing up liquid, isn’t it? 😐

Don't beat yourself up, it's easy to get carried away. I'm audhd and often get things wrong and ds who is a serious type autistic and doesn't have my impulsiveness or silly way of looking at things. I'm always triggering him and he gets so cross with me 🤦🏻‍♀️

Just try and play it down and get washing the hair 😂

Don't beat yourself up, all parents do thing and then regret it. He will get over it (probably laugh one day). He probably won't let you have an impulsive moment again 😂

Head and shoulders / dandruff shampoo is good for stripping colour and probably kinder to the hair then washing up liquid, hopefully making process less of a thing for you

Dye over it?

(disclaimer: I am not a hairdresser and this may be a bad idea)

Wash with baking soda mixed in with anti dandruff shampoo or washing up liquid. His hair will be dry but use extra conditioner
