Any dentists about? Filling question

I've just had a filling. The dentist said "don't eat for a bit". How long is "a bit?" I am starving as I haven't eaten since lunchtime yesterday - (should have though of that before going but too late now...)

Also I'm meant to be going out for dinner tonight - can I eat that?!

You should certainly be fine by this evening if still a bit numb. I usually say can eat straight away just try and eat on the other side to the filling.

Christ aye ..I had a filling 2 hours I was eating perfectly normal. I would just avoid sticky stuff.
