How to remove vomit stains from cream carpet?

UpUpUpU · 17/07/2024 12:17

My child had a bout of vomiting last night that has gone everywhere. I scrapped it up and used the carpet vax cleaner on it in the night (only quickly as it's very noisy). I have done the same this morning more thoroughly but there is a lot of orange staining.

Any ideas on how to remove it?

Thank you in advance.

(previously posted in housekeeping but got no responses).

My dog weed on my cream wool rug. I soaked the stain in white vinegar and sprinsprinkled with bicarbonate of soda. It's certainly got rid of the smell and the stain is less obvious

If the carpet isn't wool, you may be able to use bleach. Lots of carpets are sold as bleach cleanable nowadays. Might be worth checking.

I have used bleach without staining on a pale gray synthetic carpet. I'd test a small area 1st. If that fails there's bicarb, a rug or your home insurance.

I've used pet stain and odour remover before.

Thank you all. Does vinegar and bicarbonate of soda leave a vinegar smell?

I might try the Dr Beckmann stuff first.

Thank you again!

Vinegar does have a smell but will dissipate very quickly with fresh air flow (windows open, fan on if you have one handy). Hope DC feels better soon!

I came to recommend the Dr Beckman stuff too, my carpet was still looking orange after cleaning up vomit with varnish carpet spray but this got it right out. So easy to use with the brush on the end too.

My vinegar was allegedly lavender scented but doesn't smell of anything

Thank you all. I’ve got all of the above and will see how it all works.

Child seems to be in the mend thank goodness!
