My rubberised raincoat has started peeling under the arms wheres it's rubbed. Is there anyway to try fix it or make it look not as bad as it does now?
It was an expensive coat and I love it so really don't want to just throw it out.

Any advice would be fab please

Sorry op, I think that’s had its day.

have you had it long?

Wahine24 · 16/07/2024 16:49

@remakeandrenew sadly that will happen often with that style of jacket, due to the way it's made fabric layered with the rubber, where your arms meet the jacket will touch or rub, causing It to peel or lift It can happen with bags too.
I'm pretty sure it's not fixable

CheesusWept · 16/07/2024 16:52

Can I ask if that’s a Hunter brand of jacket?
Only asking as I have a similar one, which is also starting to peel.

There's a brilliant Facebook group called "Modern Mending Club" where they are absolutely incredible at coming up with clever ideas on how to repair garments. I'd highly recommend posting on there as I'm sure there will be some helpful suggestions on how you could fix your lovely coat. Good luck!

Flossflower · 16/07/2024 17:22

@remakeandrenew &@CheesusWept it's just what happens they "delaminate " through friction

Wahine24 · 16/07/2024 21:37

@remakeandrenew +@CheesusWept depending on the time scale of owning it, you could try returning it as not fit for purpose? You can check customer rights online
