Do you call it a bag of crisps or a packet of crisps

I call it a packet. To me, a bag is something that you put things in to carry around.

Crisps come in a packet, all ready to eat and nicely sealed, ready for you to open.

It doesn't matter but I'm bored and was just wondering how many people call it a bag or a packet.

Bag 😁

ApolloandDaphne · 16/07/2024 12:31

I would say a bag of crisps. I'm guessing this might be a regional thing. I'm Scottish.

It probably is regional. I'm not from where I live now and most people here call it a bag.

South east. Packet.

Alwaystired2023 · 16/07/2024 12:36

Gosh I say both interchangeably

MsMajeika · 16/07/2024 12:36

Packet. South east.

Tittyfilarious · 16/07/2024 12:37

North West , and around here we say bag of crisps or I have heard pack of crisp but never packet .

DappledThings · 16/07/2024 12:37

Packet

jollygreenpea · 16/07/2024 12:38

I'm North West and have only ever said packet.

wandawaves · 16/07/2024 12:38

It's a packet of chips where I live!

Ineedanewsofa · 16/07/2024 12:39

Having never thought about this until now - I use both, but for different things! E.g I will say “pass me the bag of crisps” BUT I also say (far too frequently!) “put that bloody crisp packet in the bin!” No idea why…

TyneTeas · 16/07/2024 12:39

Either is fine

Now you're just complicating things 🤣

muddyford · 16/07/2024 12:42

Either.

FatmanandKnobbin · 16/07/2024 12:43

It's a poke of crisps here too.

Same with chips, if you go to a chippy and just want a small chips you ask for a poke of chips.
