Do you call it a bag of crisps or a packet of crisps

I call it a packet. To me, a bag is something that you put things in to carry around.

Crisps come in a packet, all ready to eat and nicely sealed, ready for you to open.

It doesn't matter but I'm bored and was just wondering how many people call it a bag or a packet.

Why?!? What an odd question.

Timeandtune · 16/07/2024 17:42

Packet of crisps here ( West of Scotland).
When I was wee crisps were a rare treat and you had to add the salt which came in a wee blue twist of paper.

Brabugheaid · 16/07/2024 17:44

Either - potato, potahto

MonaChopsis · 16/07/2024 17:47

Packet of crisps for a small single serving, bag of crisps if it's a family pack!

It's not odd. It's just a question.

I'm in the south west and I call it a packet of crisps

blacksax · 16/07/2024 18:18

What do you call a teabag then?

Doggymummar · 16/07/2024 18:18

Bag when it's full, packet when it's empty.

AbraAbraCadabra · 16/07/2024 18:19

Alwaystired2023 · 16/07/2024 12:36

Gosh I say both interchangeably

Yes me too.

Xanadu58 · 16/07/2024 18:20

Packet

Throwwaway · 16/07/2024 18:20

Packet all the way. Specifically a packe’

Magicmagician · 16/07/2024 18:24

its a pack of crisps or a crisp packet here (south wales if we think it’s a regional thing?)

DilemmaDelilah · 16/07/2024 19:53

Single serving of crisps is a packet. Family pack is a bag. Simples!

twentysevendresses · 16/07/2024 20:36

Randomly, I'll say 'a bag of crisps' but then 'the crisp packet' (meaning the empty bag! 🤦‍♀️🤷‍♀️)

Danikm151 · 16/07/2024 20:37

Pack here. Packet is too many syllables 😂

Serencwtch · 16/07/2024 20:46

I'm not entirely sure tbh. I think I prob say both

Clearinguptheclutter · 16/07/2024 20:48

North West. Packet.
but if I heard bag I wouldn’t think much of it

happinessischocolate · 16/07/2024 21:33

Packet if it's small, bag if it's big 😂

Itsmeamandaberry · 16/07/2024 21:36

ApolloandDaphne · 16/07/2024 12:31

I would say a bag of crisps. I'm guessing this might be a regional thing. I'm Scottish.

I'm Scottish and say packet. Don't think I have heard anyone call in a bag.

ballstomonty · 16/07/2024 21:37

I use both but I think generally I use packet for a small single severing size and bag for a large share size

Violet17 · 16/07/2024 21:49

Packet
