Hunstanton or Cromer - few days away for a sporting event

We're going to Norfolk for a few days next week to attend a minor sporting event and plan to book a cottage for a few nights with our dog. Does anyone know if Hunstanton/Heacham or Cromer/Sheringham is the nicer place?
Planning on walking some of the coast path and also spending time on the beach with the dog.
We've never visited that area before so any information greatly appreciated!

They are opposite ends of the coast and inland take about an hour to get between on the coast road it will be a little slower. I would go for the one which is closest to the event as in summer the roads will be very busy.

Thanks - the sporting event is midway so either resort has the same distance to travel.
