Can someone PLEASE explain how Salary works when you work in a School?

My AIBU should actually be AIBS (Am I being Stupid)

Went for a Job advertised as 39 Weeks of the Year, so term time. Job offer letter has come through with Salary based on 46 weeks of the Year.

What does this mean? The hours have increased? The Pay is based inc.some of the School Holidays? Do You get paid during Holidays?! I know these are questions I probably should have thought of during interview but I was really anxious and flustered.

FYI - it's a P/T kitchen job.

My DM worked in school admin. She was paid every month even though she was TTO or TT+2 (I can’t remember now). She used to be able to sign on in the holidays as she wasn’t working and didn't get paid in them. I’m not sure why yours is based on 46 weeks though 🤔

You get an annual leave and bank holiday entitlement. So 46 weeks are paid. Usually spread put over the 52 weeks of the year, so every month you're paid the same amount

You get, 7 weeks paid holiday (including bank holidays), as is your legal right, so you work 39 weeks, which will be term time plus 5 inset days and are paid for 46. This will be paid in 12 equal monthly installments.

46 weeks per year is very good. It can be as low as 42.5 weeks where I work. I've not heard of lower personally.

They divide the annual salary (adjusted to hours/weeks per year that you work) by 12 and pay you monthly.
