MIL refusing to give DP birth certificate?

Just that really, not sure where else to seek advice from. MIL has been NC with DP and I for nearly 2 years, DP still in low contact with FIL, MIL has been very controlling in the past and I feel this is just another way to control DP! Planning on getting married etc so we would really need this. Advice how to go about this please? Thanks

When he gets a new one in the post he should do a selfie with it and send it to MIL

In fairness I thought I was the first responder and when I pressed post another 10 or so replies appeared!!

She doesn't want him to marry you..

He should message asking if she can give him the birth certificate or if she would prefer that he just gets another copy from the registry office.

My mother stole my kids birth certificates and refused to give them back (she's a narc and she lifted them from a drawer,just to say she was 'looking after them for me')

It's a control thing with her-when they started school,I needed them so just ordered one-i think it was about £18 each (a lot when your a skint single mum) but solved the problem

I did the same when I needed mine for a new job-she was fuming but nothing she could do
