I have a hybrid role: office, community and home.
This usually works out 2/3 days community, 0/1 in the office and 1 or 2 from home a week.
On a community day, if I have 3 appointments at say- 10am, 12pm and 1:30pm, I will go and work from home at 3pm after the last one as travelling into the office wouldn’t be efficient with traffic. The office is quite far away from home and from where all my appointments are, and it’s city centre so parking is a pain and the better, cheaper options are train or park and ride.
Unless I have meetings in-person, there’s usually nothing for me to do at the office that can’t be done elsewhere. My team all have similar working arrangements so uncommon for us all to be in the office on the same day anyway.
I’ll be going on maternity leave in October. I’m finding it more tiring lately to go into the office because of the length of the commute, and bustle of public transport. I work longer hours and more productively at home. To my knowledge nobody has commented on how frequently I am there, but I do feel as though I am the team member who is probably there the least.
Should I make an effort to be there once a week for the sake of it, or if nobody is enforcing it do you think it’s fine to stay WFH on the non-community days until/unless told otherwise?
