Just tipped into overweight BMI - Fast 800

As title suggests, I’ve just tipped into an overweight BMI for the first time. I’m the heaviest I’ve ever been, not pregnant and none of my clothes fit - I’m living in leggings and I have to lose a bit because my work uniforms are about to split! Planning on a strict two weeks of Fast 800 starting tomorrow, then I’ll reassess. Using this for accountability and support.

Good luck. How much do you need to lose?

My goal is to get into the overweight BMI!

Sutra · 15/07/2024 12:16

@Alalalalalongalalalalalonglonglilong I'm 5' 3" and 10 stone 2.4 having always been about 8 and a half stone. I've put five inches on my waist in the last year!

Mission starts today: I've had a black coffee, fasted till 12 then had some full fat yogurt with berries and no sugar.

Not sure what I'll have for dinner but I'm going to drink loads of water this afternoon and go for a walk.

Day 1 went well, omelette and salad for dinner. No alcohol!! Lots of water and cups of black tea.

Slept well

Weight this morning 10st 0.4

800 diet seems a bit like overkill tbh. I'd be amazed if you stick to it.

1200 and some walking would be more sustainable.

Good effort @Sutra keep going!

If you have only just tipped into overweight (BMI 26ish) then you should look at sustainable lifestyle choices rather than extreme diets that you can’t maintain and could result in yo-yo effect.

look at making 1 change (no biscuits with morning tea, alcohol only at weekends) and stick with that until it is easy. Then make another change. You won’t see quick results but are much more likely to keep good habits going forward.

Frequency · 16/07/2024 07:49

That's all you had?

I don't think that's going to be sustainable,OP.

Also, you can eat more than that for less than 800 calories eg cottage cheese and salad for lunch and grilled chicken breast and non-starchy veg, fruit, and yoghurt for dinner will be around 600 calories, leaving 200 for supper or breakfast.

There's a fasting board on here in the weight loss section.

Just letting you know because there are a few threads about fast 800 on there

I second this.

If you continue starving yourself your brain will go into binge mode and that's a slippery slope. Just cut out a few things and focus on eating nutrients dense foods.

I'm similar weight and height as you OP, also looking to lose 2 stone.

I did a version of Fast 800 a good few years ago, except I did 1200 calories and about an hour a day walking instead though as 800 is so little. 1200 was fine, I lost the 1.5 stone (all I needed to lose that time) easily,

Sutra · 16/07/2024 12:45

Thanks for all advice and concern: I'm not looking to do this for the long term, just a two week blast and then probably move to 5:2, as per Fast 800 book.

I'm surprisingly not very hungry, but if I get that way I'll happily up calories to 1000 or 1200.

I think maybe I wasn't hungry yesterday as ate all the food in the universe at the weekend 🤣 Today I've had Greek yogurt, berries and seeds for breakfast and just now had a half a ball of mozzarella with a ginormous salad of loads of different veg. I appreciate "omelette and salad" doesn't sound much for dinner last night but it was 3 eggs and had about 8 different veg; a whole plate of food which filled me up nicely.

Not sure about tea yet, I've got F800 recipe book somewhere so I'll dig that out.

This is a recipe for a lifetime of yoyo dieting op.

If you’re only just overweight you’re in the fortunate position of not having to take drastic steps like this.

Crazycrazylady · 16/07/2024 13:24

I like the fast 800 as a short sharp shock that often breaks my bad eating habits . I do it every now and again for 3 week and then try to go back to healthish balance diet to maintain. I find above gotten older it's the only diet that sees me dropping pounds .

Sutra · 17/07/2024 08:21

9st 13.6 this morning!

I had 3 modestly sized meals yesterday - couldn't find the fast 800 book but I used a recipe from a Louise Parker book which works along the same lines, protein plus lots of veg. I finished over target on calories, but 50g protein and 45g carbs so am happy with that. Sleeping really well, and while I'm getting hungry for meals, I'm not starving hungry. Jeans felt a bit looser this morning Smile

Cheeky Saturday weigh in, and I'm 5lbs down from Monday morning. Just the initial fast loss which will slow down, but I've also lost 2" from my waist so I'm delighted. Feeling good and planning to continue for the rest of the fortnight.
