Trump shooting -big PR win

mids2019 · 14/07/2024 15:33

I am glad Donald Trump was not associated but I think there are real questions about his behaviour after the shooting where he appeared to be alive to the optics of the attempted shooting and how to use them to his adavnatge.

Am I mistaken that Trump maybe slowed the security detail to fiat pump the air and mouth something to his supporters? Obviously I am not an expert on security service protocol in such an event but it did appear that Trump was dictating things a little and he wasn't covering under the security operatives which may have been expected when leaving the stage? Was Trump so determined to appear an alpha male fighter that he may have put himself in danger of a theoretical second shooter?

Any way it's a big PR win for Trump and maybe a step closer to the white house.....

That's a depressing thought. Unfortunately, I doubt that this will change his mind about American's having the right to bear arms Sad

Butteredtoast55 · 14/07/2024 15:37

I do know what you mean because I was watching last night and was thinking they really needed to get him safely off the stage! The female Secret Service agent with hair in a bun was doing a lot of work to cover him, and the tall man too.
However, there's a BBC video where you can hear the secret services stating the shooter was down whilst Trump is still on the floor and he must have had adrenalin coursing through his veins at that point. I think that came into play.
Such a shocking incident.

AussieKoala · 14/07/2024 15:40

He was mouthing "fight, fight, fight" to the audience. They are already selling t-shirts with his bloodied face and this slogan on. Confused

He also asked the SS to hold on so he could put his shoes on.

I don't understand why his shoes were off in the first place. Did they fall off in the scramble? Or was he speaking barefoot?

FusilliGeri · 14/07/2024 16:47

I mean, it's to be expected surely.

He isn't going to change into a completely different person just because someone has tried to kill him. That's who he is. He acted exactly like Donald Trump.

Just give it a rest.

The poor man was almost assassinated, the bullets missed his skull by a whisker, about 8 secret service people jumped on top of him (he likely got a shoe knocked off when this happened) and he doesn't have the kind of reaction you think he should have.

Can you just be thankful that another human being wasn’t killed?

Floatinginatincan · 14/07/2024 16:54

I'm no Trump fan, but the man had just been shot at & narrowly missed being hit in the head with a bullet
I'm not sure how I would react in that situation, but I expect he was full of adrenaline. It looked like quite a scramble on the floor, so I imagine his shoes came off then.

MrsBennetsPoorNerves · 14/07/2024 16:58

I can't bear Donald Trump but I am not going to judge anyone for their reaction after they have just been shot. I imagine he was fuelled by adrenaline and quite possibly not thinking straight.

There are so many reasons to criticise this dreadful man, but his immediate and instinctive response to an assassination attempt is not one of them.

This. For God's sake, the man was shot at and very nearly hit in the head. A bystander was killed. His shoes came off when he was lifted up by the security detail

Whatever your views on the man and his political views, let it bloody go because it's really, really tedious and judging by the comments since this happened, there are a lot of really nasty people in the world

Calmomiletea · 14/07/2024 17:18

I'm pretty sure, since the deep state have hounded him again and again, have publicly declared again and again they wished to "get trump" (even biden said this past week that he wanted to "put trump in the bullseye") and have not been successful in all their wicked plotting, trump knew they or someone would try this, particularly as they were now desperate.. his reaction, to me, shows as much as he was in shock, he was also not surprised, hence his reaction - they didn't get him.
It reminds me of the biblical story of wicked Haman who wanted to kill the Jew, Mordecai. Haman ends up being hanged on the very gallows he built to hang the man he hated. The shooter plotted and his plot ended up seeing him dead and his own plot failing.
The Democrats tried to bankrupt trump and corruptly use lawfare against him, and it absolutely backfired on them, and he ended up better off through the whole thing.

Again, the left wing media who were complicit in the cover up (lies) about Biden's mental state dug a pit for their enemy which they have now fallen into themselves.

As the Word of God says in Psalm 2:4: "He that sitteth in the heavens shall laugh: the Lord shall have them in derision."

CreateUserNames · 14/07/2024 17:30

OP it is actually very clear from reading your post - you are working really hard to find faults to criticise someone you dislike.

mids2019 · 14/07/2024 17:35

I think it's not dislike but boring Trump has made the most of a situation where quite mercifully he wasn't killed. Some posters are suggesting adrenaline which may be a factor but I don't think it can be denied the visuals of Trump's immediate reaction will help greatly with the election.

I dont think anyone knows how they will react after being shot. Would you be happy if he cried?

He was pretty much shot in the head. Pray, tell me how you would react to being shot in the head?

Marmose · 14/07/2024 17:49

I agree that his reaction is absolutely brilliant for his image. He didn’t crawl away. He stood tall and punched the air. He looked like a man with real courage.

mids2019 · 14/07/2024 17:50

There obviously is a huge amount of shock and I guess you will be disorientated. However I do think Trump thought quickly and the raised cost and mouthing 'fight' was not a reaction of immediate Schick but had some thought.

I just feel it can't be denied it helps Trump being objective.

Does anyone else expect that the shooter is autistic? Very quiet, won a prize for maths. Young men with autism are so very susceptible to online radicalisation. A huge proportion of those referred to Prevent turn out to have autism.

Reminded me of that movie The Dead Zone.

The president was shot at and picked up a child to shield himself, which led to his downfall.

Trump came out of this rather better

HRTQueen · 14/07/2024 17:58

Of course it will

an attempted assassination attempt he will be back out at rally’s very soon a hero to many and people will admire his determination to carry on

Trump was also punching the air looking defiant the opposite to his frail opponent who just sounds defiant (sometimes)

takes the heat off Biden for a few days but democrats must see how this will play
out in Trumps favour if Biden stays

I agree. I think it's perfect to possible to think that obviously any attempted assassination is awful, both for the individuals (Trump and also the crowd around him, including the man who died), as well as for democracy generally, while also thinking that Trump and his team will be well aware of the very real PR gains from this.

ChardonnaysBeastlyCat · 14/07/2024 18:01

I struggle to see your point.

He didn’t react the way you expect him to after being nearly killed?

Can’t stand him and never understood his appeal, but if I was in his position then fuck yeah, I will be making the best of it.
