Too much propranolol?

We have been travelling back all day to night and my heart's been going into overdrive. I took 40mg of propanol when I got in and then another 10mins later forgetting I've already taken one. The irony is it stops panic attacks! Now I'm freaking out that I've taken too much too soon?!

I’m prescribed 80mg slow release for anxiety and it’s fine. No side effects. I think you’ll be fine.

www.nhs.uk/medicines/propranolol/

If you look at the NHS dosing guidelines there, you'll see people do take that and more. It's not ideal to make mistakes but it's not a dangerous mistake, judging by that.

I take 160mg daily. You will be ok

Thank you so much.
I think my heart is pounding due to dehydration and the stress of travel so I just wasn't concentrating...silly mistake.

What do you mean by "overdrive"? A known side effect of propanolol, even at quite low doses, is bradycardia where the heart beats more slowly but the beats feel "bigger", like the heart is trying to expand more and contract to a smaller size each beat to compensate for the slower beat rate.

My heart rate is naturally low any way and I found 45bpm big thumps to be terrifying and incompatible with sleep and asked for a different medication to manage my condition.

If you experience tachycardia, fast heart rate, that won't be the propanolol.
