Greys Anatomy second time round….

I hadn’t fully appreciated Meredith and Cristina’s relationship before. I think I was much more aware of the various romantic relationships first time round which seem so much less significant compared to the friendship on a second viewing. Cristina is leaving and they are dancing it out 😥

I liked that they allowed her to be affected by everything. Given being fiercely strong was her thing (although they had always shown her vulnerability) it was probably important she wasn’t “strong” (COVID BLM and the loss of women’s rights/bodily autonomy…)

(I also generally liked how the show tackled issues head on, even though not always perfectly. I wonder how it will be to re watch COVID episodes when I read that part)

I agree.

I love Addison and am glad she came back for the abortion storylines.
The episode where Bailey and her have a mother of 3 bleed to death in the back of their car because they have to get her across state lines before they can treat her pregnancy complication is tragic. They've gone to pick her up from a clinic over a state border somewhere where they won't treat her.

I’ve just started watching for the first time (I know!) and am only on S2 Ep23 - Denny’s just had his left ventricular gadget fitted, Cristina has freaked George out by walking into Burkes sitting room naked and he’s scuttled off to Callie, Alex is back to being an arsehole and Meredith has just met the vet.

George…I can’t get my head around him. He has sub-zero personality unless he’s being wildly irritating, whiny, stalky and weird?

Does anyone actually like him? Does he get more interesting?

Alex is foul but at least there’s some character there.

Ooh I'm jealous of people watching it for the first time!

Tbh I was never a massive fan of George.

Alex does improve considerably. Even I think in the next episode you can see some kindness (I don't remember every episode! But since you're near a pretty big season finale, I remember it).

Yeah, I feel like Alex is a damaged person with a lot of barriers up but not intrinsically bad even though his behaviour is (can you tell I work with teenagers 🤣).

George is just weird and meh!

MinnieDog · 16/08/2024 11:16

You grow to love George I think. When he's fawning over Meredith it's so crap but he really comes into himself as time goes on.

Alex is my absolute favourite character second only to Christina. The depth of him! I love it. Loveable underneath all that armour.

whirlyhead · 16/08/2024 11:20

I’ve seen them all at least 3 times now. Meredith gets more annoying as the years progress and her face stops moving!!

bailey is epic - I pray she never leaves. Same for the old alcoholic doctor.

i still mourn Cristina leaving…

alex improved over the years but his exit is still the worst exit I’ve ever seen in a tv programme. Whoever wrote it should be ashamed of themself.

MinnieDog · 16/08/2024 16:21

@whirlyhead completely agree, Alex's exit was an actual disgrace to his character. Alex would NEVER.

I’m looks forward to a very Grey’s heavy autumn now 😁

26th September I believe, finally being released in line with the US!

Annoyingly, while googling that I saw a spoiler for 2 characters who are leaving (but I don't know the circumstances), and one minor character from years ago who is coming back.

Is this a new series?!

I haven’t finished season 2 yet 😂

DancingPhantomsOnTheTerrace · 16/08/2024 18:10

@MadamePeriwinkle ah I didn't check the username, I didn't see that you were the poster who was only on season 2.

Yes, season 21 starts next month.

KazzaV · 16/08/2024 18:11

Oh I might need to do a rewatch - loved the early seasons

Love This is Us too - fantastic show cried nearly every episode

Letsgettoit · 16/08/2024 18:21

I love Alex but yes his ending is dreadful. I don’t know what they were thinking.

I am liking Meredith more this time round as she gets older. I think there are some lovely friendship moments between Meredith and Alex.

I agree it was bad. But it does sound like they were stuck between a rock and a hard place with it.

They couldn't have him just move to a different hospital - that would limit Jo's future storylines.

I can understand why they didn't want to kill him off. Another grieving widow, another loss for Meredith etc.

The exit was bad. But I don't know what would have been better since they clearly had no time, and no actor to film anything.

Hadn’t thought it though but yes that is tricky.
