2.6 miles.

Compared to 109 miles for me and DH. Although his parents and mine now live 2.4 miles away from each other! And we live 100 miles away.

Australia and Scotland. Mum came over on her own at at 23 to further her singing career, met my dad while performing in a theatre inLowestoft where he was stage manager, they married 3 years later and were together 61 years. her first visit back home to see her family was 28 years after she'd left!

0.6 miles (once my mum moved from London to Wellingborough) made Christmas easier as could always see both sets (they moved away before I was born)

About half a mile (grew up in the same village, actually 3rd cousins or something) although they actually met in Wellingborough too. Must be on a lay line or something.... 😍

JohnTheRevelator · 12/07/2024 22:32

About 65 miles. He was from Winslow in Buckinghamshire and she was from south London (Walworth).

ShiftySquirrel · 12/07/2024 22:34

8013km India to Essex, but but DM's family moved en mass before she met dad.

PissedOffNeighbour22 · 12/07/2024 22:37

A few miles. My dad was a Ringtons tea salesman who used to regularly deliver to my mum's parents.

LER83 · 13/07/2024 00:42

Just over 400 miles for my mum&dad. I think my dh's mum&dad went to school together so they would have been close. For me&dh its about 270 miles. Both our families are scattered all over.

TheCourtierTapsHisFan · 13/07/2024 06:48

10,577 miles

StuntNun · 13/07/2024 07:53

4,500 miles.

luckylavender · 13/07/2024 08:35

Half a mile?

aintnospringchicken · 13/07/2024 10:12

Less than half a mile.

anicecuppateaa · 13/07/2024 10:14

Countries apart! A european country and a small Caribbean island.

EwwSprouts · 13/07/2024 10:19

Born 60 miles apart but Dad's family moved to Mum's town when he was a child.

Possumly · 13/07/2024 10:20

Both from London but they met abroad

Natsku · 13/07/2024 10:22

About 2000 miles (depending on whether you want as the crow flies or the distance to travel - travelling is around 2300 miles)
My mum went to Scotland, where my dad lived, to go to bible college there and that's how they met. They ended up having two weddings, first official one in Finland and second unofficial one in Scotland so both families would get to see them get married.
And they hitchhiked through Europe to get from the first wedding to the second one because they didn't have enough money for flights!

lavenderlou · 13/07/2024 10:26

The furthest west part of London and the furthest east part of London. They met at work in Central London.

2chocolateoranges · 13/07/2024 10:26

My dad moved to the village my mum grew up in when he was a teenager. They lived about a quarter of a mile from each other.

Dh and I grew up in the same village aswell and lived about a quarter of a mile from each other too.

MargaretThursday · 13/07/2024 10:27

They grew up around 50 miles apart. But met, and now live about 200 miles from where they grew up.

CuloGrande · 13/07/2024 10:33

Just worked it out as 785 miles, both in the uk but about as far away from eachother as possible.

Favouritefruits · 13/07/2024 10:38

Liverpool and Stockport so
not too far

Fifthtimelucky · 13/07/2024 10:52

Mine were born nearly 250 miles apart (NW and SE England).

They met while working in the West Country (over 200 miles away from where one was born and 140 miles away from the other was born.

I suspect that that might have been quite unusual for the times (born 1920s and married 1950s).

MojoDojoCasaHouse · 13/07/2024 11:09

120 miles. My mum grew up in a military town and my dad was in the Marines. My maternal grandparents met the same way. I bucked the trend, no way was I going to be a military wife.

Edinvillian · 13/07/2024 11:45

About 100 metres 😂

Arlanymor · 13/07/2024 11:48

Three miles but Welsh miles - i.e. opposite sides of the Valley. Doesn’t make them perfect for one another mind you, they divorced when I was ten and a remarried one another when I was 26!
