20 miles

elQuintoConyo · 12/07/2024 21:03

83.1 miles, according to Google.

Dad was posted to near mum's village. They met in her local pub on Valentine's day, of all days. He told her a dirty joke! 34 years later they divorced.

LindorDoubleChoc · 12/07/2024 21:03

About 5 miles, both south London (Balham and Crystal Palace).

UneFoisAuChalet · 12/07/2024 21:04

3,681 km.
I never checked it before but it kinda makes me love them even more.
My parents rocked 👊

Shushquite · 12/07/2024 21:04

Less than a mile away, they attended the same schools but were different years.

Me and my ex, were also less than a mile temporarily. I meet him through his sister, who he lived with for a year. His sister and my dm were friends.

KnittedCardi · 12/07/2024 21:09

About 1000 miles. Suffolk and Emilia Romagna.

PauliesWalnuts · 12/07/2024 21:10

I love this thread - so many interesting stories. My mum and dad = 4.5 miles. She worked in the post office on the ground floor of the building where my dad worked for a national newspaper but they ended up meeting at my dad’s cousin’s Christmas Eve party.

RampantIvy · 12/07/2024 21:10

MissingMoominMamma · 12/07/2024 21:16

220 miles.

NotkeepingupwiththeJones · 12/07/2024 21:17

In distance, very close. In terms of background, culture and religion; poles apart.

PickAChew · 12/07/2024 21:18

About 3 miles and a river. Opposite sides of the same city.

OnlyFrench · 12/07/2024 21:18

3430 miles, although dad born abroad because his dad was in the army. It's made me realise my dad wasn't actually from anywhere, they moved so often

MagentaRocks · 12/07/2024 21:20

A bit over 500 miles. They met over 2000 miles away

newrubylane · 12/07/2024 21:20

Less than a mile between their homes. They were at the same school, two years apart. They both remember one actual conversation with one another as children in the street as well.

FuckoffeeBeforeCoffee · 12/07/2024 21:22

About 150 miles.

1983Louise · 12/07/2024 21:23

Mum and Dad, couple of miles over 50 years wed, me and my husband, couple of miles nearly 35 years wed, daughter and partner, couple of miles, there seems to be a happy trend

mindutopia · 12/07/2024 21:50

Probably around 5 miles. They both grew up there and pretty much never left until my mum was 60 and my dad died there mid 50s (so his whole life).

I’m the opposite. I did go to uni locally, but moved about 3 hours away in early 20s and then moved overseas when I was 30 and have never been back. Dh and I grew up on opposite sides of the world.

Cookerhood · 12/07/2024 21:54

Derbyshire & Yorkshire but met in London.

museumum · 12/07/2024 21:56

a few miles, same city. My dad was in my mums sisters year at school. But this was the 1960s.
Dh and I grew up only 15 miles apart but as an adult lived 400 miles away for a decade until three months before we met.
