Have you spoken to anyone at the school?

Do you think there could have been a mix up, did they think that because of his allergies you would be supplying the lunch?

2dogsandabudgie · 12/07/2024 16:01

I'm sure a teacher would have noticed if he wasn't eating anything, I would speak to them first.

Luxell934 · 12/07/2024 16:03

Why are you asking Mumsnet, when you should be calling the school?

Mrsjayy · 12/07/2024 16:04

I'd probably speak to the school. I'm not too sure what you want from your thread if he has allergies does the lunch staff pick out his lunch?

I work in a school and occasionally things like this do happen. We would usually either give the child any elements of our own lunch that they could eat, or if there was a shop that happened to sell anything suitable buy that. If we returned to school before the end of the day then we would attempt to feed the child on return. Either way, we would contact the parent, explain the error and apologise.

Tacocatgoatcheesepizza · 12/07/2024 16:22

Surely you need to speak to the school? Who else might you need to speak to?

Children on FSM often take their own packed lunch on trips, even if they normally have school dinners every day. At my school we have to specify if children want a packed lunch for a trip. It is not an automatic assumption based on their normal lunches.

I would double check the letter about the trip to make sure you weren’t asked to provide a lunch or order a packed lunch through school before you go in complaining. Then if you’re sure you weren’t asked to do anything, you can ask them to clarify the procedure so that this doesn’t happen again.
