Due to go to a lovely little cottage in Wales for a week tomorrow, it’s the same place we went last year and we all loved it and had so much fun.

My eldest came home from school wednesday and was not himself at all, went to bed super early and woke up yesterday with a temperature and cough. Great. I absolutely knew from that point the 18 month old wouldn’t be far behind and yup like clockwork he is poorly this morning. He woke up at 7:30 and is already back asleep in his bed.

There’s not much point to this post except to rant because I’m devastated! 😩 Obviously we will still go as it’s only a 2 hour car journey and it’s all booked and paid for but I just did not want to spend half my time there with them poorly, I’m gutted for them.

That is a pain but surely they’ll be over it in a day or two? Load up with calpol and calm indoor activities for a quiet day or two when you get there and then they’ll be over the worst and you can get out and about fingers crossed!

well weather looks pants so not like you’d have been out and about soaking up the sun!

Yeah I hope so, my eldest is on day 3 though and hasn’t gotten out of bed since Wednesday night 😩 I suppose at least it’s a cottage and not a single hotel room, that would be worse. Hopefully we can still enjoy half of our holiday.

Yuuuup. Cannot believe how awful this ‘summer’ has been so far.

Yup holidays, Christmas, nice days out, planned family meet ups, adult only time with babysitters sorted = illness. Such a joy.

I hope you can salvage some nice times on your trip and they bounce back quickly! On our most recently holiday at least an ill toddler meant some calmer moments so we got some nice walks with them in a back carrier rather than running riot. Trying to look at the positives!

Oh yes Christmas and birthdays we are all hit with illnesses too. My son’s first birthday this year we discovered he had chicken pox two days before and he was reaaaally poorly with them. Last Christmas he had a chest infection start two days before too. You really couldn’t make it up sometimes, I don’t know why I’m ever shocked really.

Yes yes always happens!! Several theatre trips/visits to Santa and DD would end up vomiting during the night before.
At half term we booked her one day into an extra special fancy holiday club at a trampoline (+ more) park then she was totally under the weather and couldn't go.
Just waiting for it to happen for a holiday!

Bigcoatlady · 12/07/2024 11:07

Yup we did norovirus for a Santa sleepover at Alton Towers #makingmemories

My kids always waited until the day of an event, the day we arrive on holiday or the day after we arrived. EVERY SINGLE TIME.

Have had to push it back and miss a day! Both children with raging temperatures, eldest still hasn’t gotten out of bed since Wednesday evening and youngest is now seemingly so, so poorly! It would be cruel to force them to get up, dressed and in the car. My partner has also got a temperature and bad cold symptoms so he’s got it too, just waiting for me next 😩 You couldn’t make this up honestly.
