Where do your glasses sit (picture attached)

I have had these glasses for at least a couple of years and for some reason decided to feel along the arm , the bend sits in front of my ear, is this correct? Should the bend not sit on my ear? Is this why the sodding things are always slipping?

Normally they should be straight to the top of the ear and bend round it. Yours look set too high, like they bend too soon.

I thought so , bloody Specsavers 🙄

They don't fit right at all, the arms are much too short. I'm surprised you haven't noticed this for the last couple of years though tbh!

Should be a quick enough adjustment, assuming there's enough left on the arm if they re-bend it. If you look at the numbers on the arm is the last one 135? It'll be something like 55-19-135?

I can't see the numbers without my glasses on 🤣 I'm at the stage where I have to take a photo of small writing and then zoom in!

The numbers are 53 17 145

Ah well 145 should leave enough meat on the bones so to speak for them to heat up the arm, straighten it, then put in a more suitable curve so they hug your ear and stay in place. Specsavers are usually ok for adjustments, just try and pick someone who looks experienced rather than a new starter!!

@Earole Go back in, they will warm the arms in a dinky machine then jab you with very hot arms (always in my case!) and reset them properly..... Only slightly joking about being poked with hot arms! Takes minutes and I've never had to book

MonsteraMama · 12/07/2024 00:05

Yeah the bend kind of hooks over the top of my ears, I've tried all three pairs just to make sure it's not a style thing and all of mine the bend sits over the natural curve of my ear. And I can shake my head like billy-o and they don't slip!

Specsavers will refit them though if you just pop in, I'm always having to get mine adjusted because I'm awful for whipping them off like I'm in CSI Miami and bending them out of shape.

flourella · 12/07/2024 00:09

One of the arms on all my pairs of glasses sits like that, but its been done deliberately because my ears aren't level. Having one arm curve down ahead of the ear makes that side sit higher and compensates for the fact that the ear that side is lower. One of the pairs I've bought from Specsavers was adjusted in this manner in the shop (the other was adjusted at the hinge by a different member of staff) and that's how I now adjust glasses I buy online.

Are both the arms on your glasses like that? It's not clear from your post. Even if so, there might be a reason why some people's glasses need to sit higher on both sides (though I'm not sure what. Perhaps if both ears are unusually low down?!) Did Specsavers check the fit and do anything to them when you collected them? As others have said, they will certainly look at them and tweak as needed if you go in and ask.

I have some from specsavers like this. They are too small. I am amazed they got me to buy them. Really annoyed and basically have to buy new ones soon. Which is annoying as I am minus 10 so not cheap.

Toddlerteaplease · 12/07/2024 00:17

They are too small. Adjusting them won't help. As a PP said. I'm amazed they sold them too you.

Shybutrude · 12/07/2024 00:18

@ileftmypotatointheovenallnight go back, honestly I've never had a problem with them fixing/ altering my glasses. I fall quite regularly! Even when I've had my glasses months they've sorted them out for me

OH don't, I bought two pairs at Specsavers because I liked the designer. Never fit right, so uncomfortable. So went back to Boots 🙈

Earole · 12/07/2024 00:34

@flourella yes both sides sit in front of my ears, they did check the fit (with that really awkward thing where they stare at you) . The more I feel them , the more they feel too small, I can't believe I've only just realised!

I did. They can't give me new arms. I'll maybe try again to see if it is a case of adjusting them.
