Someone’s parked in our allocated space

Not sure what to do as it doesn’t happen often but when it does it’s so inconvenient!
We live in a small flat with 7 parking spaces (one for each household) we have two cars so we park one in our allocated numbered space and one we have to park down the road.
Nobody usually parks in anyone’s spaces because there have been warnings at the start from the landlord stating nobody is allowed to park in anybody’s space.
last night my husband took the car that’s usually parked in the parking space to work and he doesn’t get home till after 12am ish when he returned he found a car parked in our space, this never usually happens regardless how long it’s empty nobody normally parks there.
So he had to park down the main road where our other car was, this meant I had to rush my child to walk him down to the main road to get him in school on time, it’s also a busy road and hard to get out off so it was a massive inconvenience! The car is still there now at nearly 11am I don’t know who it belongs to and I need to do a big food shop which I can’t do when my car is parked far away 🫣 I just can’t believe how inconsiderate some people are!

Block them in

GoingRoundInOvals · 11/07/2024 10:54

As above. Photograph the car and send to the landlord also

FriendlyNeighbourhoodAccountant · 11/07/2024 10:56

Block it in.

Flowerpowerr1 · 11/07/2024 10:59

I wish I could block them in but the driveway is narrow so I’d be blocking all the other cars in!
All I can do is contact the landlord but it’ll be while till they see the message

Nuke it.

ShikShakShok · 11/07/2024 11:03

Have you asked your neighbours?

Baggyhood · 11/07/2024 11:03

Put a note in your window apologising to the other tenants and with your number so they can call you. Mention that a dickhead is in your space

PuttingDownRoots · 11/07/2024 11:03

Do your shop. If necessary just block the driveway while you unload the shopping.
Alternatively knock on doors to see if its anyones guest?

CountdownCat · 11/07/2024 11:04

Just block them all in, leave a note saying why with your number and they can call you when someone needs letting out.

OnePeachCrow · 11/07/2024 11:25

Get in your car, drive up to your space. Put your hand on your horn and keep it there until someone comes out and moves it. Don't say please or thank you. Just tell them not to park there again.

This is what I do when someone parks across my drive.

Noseybookworm · 11/07/2024 11:29

I would knock on neighbours doors and ask if they know who's car it is. Put a note on the windscreen saying this is allocated parking, do not park here! Not much else you can do, it's very annoying 😒 I would do your shopping and park as close to the house as possible to unload.

SlightlygrumpyBettyswaitress · 11/07/2024 11:44

If there are 6 other flats I'd knock on each one.

LindorDoubleChoc · 11/07/2024 11:48

I think you should do a sad face story in the Dail Mail about this.

Whatevershallidowithmylife · 11/07/2024 12:13

Knick on the other six doors - you never know there might be a reasonable explanation?

LadyKenya · 11/07/2024 12:17

What did you do the last time it happened then?

So potentially piss off all your neighbours that you have to continue to live with, when the cf might not even be visiting and could be somewhere in the next street along/have gone out for the day so won't hear you? 🙄

If there are only 6 other flats I'd try knocking first.

AdoraBell · 11/07/2024 12:21

As pp said, take a photo and send the landlord/agent and then park behind the car and carry on with your day.

Yeah do that. Wake all the babies up and be a complete nuisance to everyone around. Great idea

AmandaHoldensLips · 11/07/2024 12:25

Vaseline all over their windscreen.

LadyWhistled0wn · 11/07/2024 12:26

Leave a note on the windscreen. Take a photo of the car with your best compensation face and send it to your landlord.

In all seriousness though I'd stab their tyre.

SprigatitoYouAndIKnow · 11/07/2024 12:47

Leave a shitty note about their parking skills. I did that once, then foundnoutnit was my flatmate's sister who had parked there and had lost track of time.

Flowerpowerr1 · 11/07/2024 12:50

Some of your suggestions are hilarious honestly I wish I could block them but I don’t want to cause a big scene and inconvenience although it is really pissing me off! I sounded my horn a few times and waited in the middle of the drive nobody came out, I emailed and called the landlord but no reply? I know a few of the neighbors aren’t in but I really don’t want to go ringing all of their doorbells as I’ve never spoke to some of them and they aren’t very friendly when I do see them lol

This used to be the bane of my life and happened a lot to me and there was no on street parking nearby. I wrote note after note but people still did it. It’s so selfish. Some of the neighbours bought a lockable bollard for theirs which might be an idea for you.

Boring 😆
Go door knocking or at the least leave a strongly worded note.

Sticking a note on the car and on the front door is probably all you can do.

I've learned from experience that even if you watch the space all day to catch them, the minute you leave to go to the loo is the time that they'll appear!
