Hi. We're taking our grandson- 3 in October- on holiday later this year.
We're getting a taxi to the airport. It's just occurred to me that he won't have his usual car seat. What do we do?
Also, do we need a car seat for the plane or not? Thanks for any help!
Oh! And can he take his Trunkie on the plane?!

Yes you should get a car seat for the taxi. Will you need one the other end? If so you can take yours and check it in but might cost extra.

He won't need it on the plane.

Trunkie will depend which airline you are flying with and how much cabin baggage you've paid for.

Check what your airline allows - often when we’ve flown with kids, you are allowed to check in buggies and car seats for free. However I really recommend packaging a car seat in a bag with lots of padding, as they do not get treated nicely on by the baggage handling 😬.

We rented one and the taxi driver had it at the airport. I did a LOT of research before hand to find a reputable company with recommendations from other families. The company I chose were happy to send photos and info about their child seats so I could make sure it was suitable for our son.

We used our own in the taxi and the taxi driver kept it and we used it on the return trip. Obviously you wouldn’t want to take him without his car seat but technically he can travel with an adult belt in a taxi as it’s an exception https://www.gov.uk/child-car-seats-the-rules/when-a-child-can-travel-without-a-car-seat

Trunki's are a massive pita in my experience. Much better off with a backpack.

CherryCinnamon · 11/07/2024 10:08

Thanks all! I'll do some more research with our local taxi company.
..I bought the Trunki as a pre-holiday gift for the wee one to get him excited about going..😂. I'll have a re-think!!
