Absolutely awful, can't imagine what he must be going through right now!

I couldn't find a thread about it yet so I apologise if there already is. Just been reading about it and am so shocked and sad for him.

Just too awful for words. Why can't men accept the end of a relationship and just move on? No need for this level of appalling violence. Unless you're a competitive archer, nobody should be able to buy a crossbow.

He could have got hold of a hammer. You can't ban those.
The Russell family were attacked with a hammer by a stranger in 1996, on the way home from school.

ffsgloria · 11/07/2024 12:21

Surely it would still be better for there to be less items available to men to murder women with? @RaraRachael

Ridiculous comment....men have no end of resources available to them including their bare hands.

HousedInMySoul · 11/07/2024 12:33

We banned handguns after Dunblane. Obviously he could have killed several children with a hammer or a kitchen knife, the point is that having a handgun or a crossbow makes it much easier to kill more people more quickly.

tobee · 11/07/2024 12:40

It's a totally horrific thing and beyond comprehension.

Back to the title of the thread, I don’t follow horse racing but know John Hunt's voice well. Obviously he's being professional on the radio but he always seemed so jolly and with a laugh in his voice. Sad

MoonWoman69 · 11/07/2024 12:48

It's absolutely shocking and so sad. And totally unbelievable that crossbows aren't regulated the same way as guns are. The law needs to change. My thoughts are with him and his family 🌻

Waitingfordoggo · 11/07/2024 12:52

I had also thought it was John Hunt that discovered them- glad to read that might not be the case.

I have thought of him and his surviving daughter a lot since the news broke. It is impossible to imagine how they are feeling, and how they will cope. My heart goes out to him.

Victims of male violence are often women and children. Women were the victims here, but John is also a victim of male violence.

Chipsahoy · 11/07/2024 12:54

So horrific. I was terrorised by a man for years. The police did nothing and I was under 18 for four of those years. I moved towns at 21 which helped and then eventually moved to the other end of the UK. Why wouldn’t these men do these things when there it feels as if it’s legal to stalk and rape and beat women. Then suddenly it’s a tragedy when they are killed. But it’s rarely nothing and then murder. There are usually many events leading up to it where the police do absolutely nothing.

These poor women. I ache for them and the family and friend grieving them.

beguilingeyes · 11/07/2024 13:29

And the surviving sister...it's unimaginable.

ffsgloria · 11/07/2024 13:30

Think I quoted the wrong person, apologies; was editing my comment but it somehow still posted. Yes men can and will continue to murder with their bare hands, knives, hammers, whatever they choose, but I don't think it is ridiculous to suggest that some of these less everyday weapons could be banned.

Anyway, I am so desperately sad & angry that these three innocent women lost their lives to yet another crazed man, and cannot imagine the pain of John Hunt and his remaining daughter.

Trinity65 · 11/07/2024 13:35

Britsfivk · 11/07/2024 11:41

They should ban crossbows and hunting knives. No one needs one and male violence is at too high a rate to leave such devastating weapons for sale. Those poor women. Another 3 women dead because of some cunt of a man who couldn't control his emotions. We have to teach our boys better. It's not good enough saying my son wouldn't.

This ^

One of my Sons does my head in with his casual use of "bitch"

The arguments we have had over it
I will not have him disrespecting Females and he now knows this.
To be honest, I would disown Him if he was a violent freak like this Killer obviously is.

Soonenough · 11/07/2024 16:07

@Trinity65 This family has now produced two murderers in one family. What does this say about their value system .

He's not a freak though. Hes not a rarity. He's one of the many, many men who hurt, abuse and kill women when they are told no.

Sadly True , I agree

Trinity65 · 11/07/2024 17:34

My friend's daughter was murdered by her so called boyfriend
About to break up with Him she was.
He stabbed Her 18 times.
The first stab was straight to the heart and killed Her.
He was finally put away last month (though this happened in November 2022) but it was disgusting how the Trial kept being put back again and again due to HIS wants and HIS Solicitors etc

May all Women murdered by these "Men" Rest in Peace.

chosenone · 11/07/2024 17:48

We need to remember these women, all women murdered at the hands of men. Male violence and the pre cursor to it need taking much more seriously. A sickening and horrifying story. May they rest in peace and may be rot!

DBD1975 · 11/07/2024 17:48

And the headline news on the BBC last night was the football. I cannot begin to comprehend why anyone would do this nor how anyone lives with such loss, it is a tragedy.

Well they’re scum

ChateauMargaux · 11/07/2024 11:24

Carole Hunt, Hannah Hunt, Louise Hunt.

Remember their names in their own right, not who's wife, daughter or murder victim they are.

Absolutely

EasternStandard · 11/07/2024 18:39

Just horrific and so sad

Britsfivk · 11/07/2024 19:40

We should have a tribute wall of some sort on Mumsnet for every woman killed at the hands of a man.

This is a brilliant idea.

ffsgloria · 11/07/2024 20:13

Yes @Britsfivk that's a great idea. I am feeling so sad and angry today, it's shit being a woman & bringing up women.
