First time 😬. Don't want to expose my belly!

Thank you.

I’m a size 20 and wear leggings and long tee shirt. Works out fine.

olympicsrock · 10/07/2024 21:46

I would wear yoga trousers ( not so tight round the middle as most leggings ) and a stretchy vest that won’t move around. You could layer a stretchy and looser vest on top

Coldsocold25 · 10/07/2024 21:47

High-waisted leggings and a longline tshirt

Curlewwoohoo · 10/07/2024 21:47

Well done! Wear whatever you are comfortable in. But I would suggest not something really baggy because it'll be annoying for some positions, like on hands and knees, and prevent the instructor seeing that you're doing things correctly. I wear cut off leggings and a t-shirt. Hope you like it!

Brilliant thanks so much

Will I need a sports bra?

Hey @sunflowerfan I'm a size 20 and regularly do pilates. I wear yoga type trousers so nice and loose, stretchy on the waist. A baggy t-shirt which I tuck in loosely at the front. Have you got pilates socks with the grip I find them helpful

Enjoy it! I find it is great, really positive mentally and physically. There's all ages shapes and sizes in my class, I'd say I'm the largest lady there but no one cares everyone is just focussing on themselves 🙂

NotMeNoNo · 10/07/2024 22:02

I wouldn't go for too loose a t shirt as it can just fall down or even cover your face annoyingly when you do a roll down, downward dog etc. From experience! I usually wear a semi fitted t or vest.

Yes to the sports bra. I can recommend Elomi Energise. I wear this top, it also comes in white. www.marksandspencer.com/scoop-neck-strappy-double-layer-top/p/clp60636332?prevPage=srp#intid=pid_pg1pip16g2r4c1and then get some high waisted leggings with at least 25% lycra/elastane mix as you need the stretch.

I wear a longish vest which I tuck into leggings or track suit bottoms and then a t shirt on top. That way I don’t expose any bare tummy regardless of pose. The t shirt needs a highish round neckline else when you’re on all fours it’ll droop too low. I wear a soft bra for comfort but I don’t have big boobs so don’t need rigid containment.

LondonTraveller · 10/07/2024 22:32

If you feel comfortable, leggings are better than joggers or loose trousers. This is so that the instructor can see your form and positioning better.

You might be in positions where you have to bend over so a t shirt that's too loose might rise up. Might be worth wearing a thin vest under the t shirt.

I don't bother with a sports bra for Pilates as it's low impact.

spikeandbuffy · 10/07/2024 22:33

I wear (for netball but want to cover up still and lots of stretching!)
Matalan long line vest top
Then a looser t shirt over the top
Leggings

Then if my top rides up I'm still covered

sunflowerfan · 10/07/2024 22:39

Thanks for all the recommendations... and encouragement!

Sorry to jump on this but I've started going to water aerobics four times a week, I need to lose about seven stone, I'd like to try the Pilates classes and body conditioning but I'm afraid I won't be able to keep up, any advice? X
