Just wondering if there are any seaside towns that are affordable (guess that rules out most of Cornwall for example) but also not a run down sort of area? Would need a secondary school in town, but other than that, not really any requirements. England or Wales, not Scotland or Ireland.

West wales, Fishguard, st Davids, cardigan and Aberaeron all have schools. Although St Davids would be the most expensive for a house. All are on or close to the sea.

Berwick?

Portsmouth.

Yes there a parts which are run down, but also some nice parts of the city.

Bognor Regis is also ok

Define affordable? Do you need to consider work/commutes?

Izzynohopanda · 10/07/2024 13:39

Margate - showing some signs of rejuvenation (bit not there yet)

Folkstone - had a lot of good press recently

Hastings - good and bad areas

Worthing - definantly improved in recent years

Poole - real mixture of areas

Jaywick - definantly affordable!

Bit of a pie in the sky, so not worrying about work and yes I realise affordable is very relative.

Thanks for the suggestions.

Whitley Bay (North East England)

Whitley Bay seafront area itself may be quite expensive (depending on your perspective; 350k plus), but Monkseaton, Cullercoats, and surrounding areas are very affordable. Tynemouth is also beautiful but also demands a premium.

I live a mile from the seafront and my bungalow would be around 220k. Very sought after area and houses sell within a week. Lovely schools nearby, but like everywhere, new build estates mean school places are competitive.

Southport?
