Help! Outfit for DS for wedding evening do

Hello,
Can anyone please give me an idea of an outfit for my 13 year old DS for an wedding we are going to in 7 weeks time? We are invited to the evening do only so I am unsure how formal we need to be. I have a maxi dress sorted for me but it's just DS really that I need help with! If I ask him if he has any ideas of what he'd like to wear or what colour he just shrugs at me 😂I was thinking perhaps beige chinos, a smart shirt in cream or khaki and brown slip on shoes or do they need to be brogue type? Or black instead of brown? I thought black trousers would look a bit over the top for a summery evening. Any ideas or suggestions welcome. Thank you.

Also, would my DH need a tie for the evening do? And would DH and DS need to coordinate colour and style wise?? I'm clueless ahhhhhh!!!

You are over thinking this. Your DH and DS do not need to coordinate. No tie needed - think going to restaurant outfit. You DS will be fine in trainers. But something he might wear again - smart jeans and a shirt maybe?

Depends on the do really and how formal it is.

For a child I would have no problems with them wearing jeans and trainers and a nice smart/casual shirt. Let them be comfortable in what they are wearing. Unless they normally wear beige chinos!

Thanks! I am a chronic over thinker to be honest. It's been ages since I went to a wedding, DS was 2 so it was many years ago. Just didn't want to get it wrong and go too formally or not smartly enough. DS would be happy with a shirt & jeans and trainers. I'll let DH sort his own outfit out then 😆

For an evening do for a child I’d do jeans and a polo or jeans and a shirt, nobody will notice a 13th at olds shoes.
