Compensation for cancelled flight

Has anyone had a compensation offer for a cancelled flight and rejected it and gone to the next stage and won? I am not happy with the sum offered and wonder if it’s worth pursuing further. Dealing with Lufthansa. TIA

What have you been offered? There are standard amounts based on length of delay & length of flight?

Cookerhood · 10/07/2024 09:13

Ah, I see you've said cancelled, not delayed. I'm not so sure about what happens there. Sorry!

We took our claim against Lufthansa to SOP the German ombudsman and won.

It was a bit messier than cancelled flights though!

We have used SOP, ours is complicated, our flights were cancelled with no alternative offered they pulled all their flights from Tehran and wouldn’t book us with another airline which resulted in us basically being stranded there we managed with difficulty to rebook new flights ourselves but it meant three flights home to the Uk instead of two as originally planned, it was a nightmare, they have offered us the cost of the tickets but this has been going on since April, ideally I think we should be compensated for the stress and inconvenience it has caused !!

Lufthansa's T&C state you are not entitled to compensation in the event disruption due to the political instability.

ButtSurgery · 10/07/2024 15:37

Were the flights pulled due to the instabilities? https://www.iranintl.com/en/202405186175

I assume you've read their policies?

No entitlement to compensation if political instability prevents the flight.

If they are offering you a refund, I'd take it.

Lufthansa Extends Suspension of Flights to Tehran

German flagship airline Lufthansa has declared a continued suspension of its flights to and from Tehran until June 16, responding to ongoing instability in the Middle East.
