Hi,

My son is 6 and we are going on a trip to London as he really wants to visit the natural history museum (dino mad).

We will do the normal touristy things like Buckingham Palace, Big Ben etc, we are going Thursday- Sunday.

Where would be best to stay what area of London? I'm OK with the tube etc. I was thinking Premier in in Kensington, earls Court I think?

Any other recommendations for area to stay? Budget friendly and maybe some great activities we could do?

We did premier inn Tottenham Hale at that age, but we were coming in from Yorkshire! Drove down they've got parking 5 minutes walk away and reasonably priced then the tube into London.
We now stay at the Premier inn Angel as the kids are older and we do more on an evening!

Personally I'd stay near Tower Hill. You've got the Tower of London and Tower Bridge right by you. Nice places to eat around St Katherine's docks and admire the boats. Over Tower Bridge Hays Galleria has nice places to eat too. District Line for easy access to South Ken. You can also get a river boat up to Greenwich or down to Westminster which is really nice. The standard commuter ones are quite cheap and have great views.

It's generally a bit more chilled than some other bits of London too.

That would be fine OP.

I would personally opt to stay north of Cromwell Road as then you are a bit more walking distance to the parks. Look at the Holiday Inn or Hilton for similar price points. But - that hotel is fine.

Holland Park has a good adventure playground, and Kensington High St plenty of options for eating and drinking.

The transport museum is fun and right in the centre of Covent Garden. Everyone is raving about the postal museum at the moment too.

It’s always fun to take the boat - all the way to Greenwich if you have time, but you can just go a few stops.

We usually stay in youth hostels - the Oxford Street one is not too far for the museums. They have very secure lounge areas where you can sit more comfortably than in a hotel room.

I prefer the travelodges to premier inns in London, my current favourite is the one at Tower Bridge, awesome location, excellent value for money. There are plenty though.

Premier inn at county hall
