Kingston upon Thames - electrical hardware shop?

This is a bit of a long shot. DS and friends (year 12) are making a generator for a school physics project. They need a part for it, but could also do with talking to someone about the right thing to buy, so they ideally need a good old fashioned electrical hardware shop staffed by someone with a bit of know-how. Any pointers?

Thanks TigerOnTour - looks like they're installers rather than retailers though.

I only know Screfix and Toolstation locally but I don’t think they really give advice. I found a list online but seems like it’s out of date as many have permanently closed in the last few years.

Charles Sirrell & Sons on Tolworth Broadway (or Teddington?) or Tarmals DIY in New Malden might be worth a call to see if they can help.

There's an electrical supply shop in the row of shops in Thames Ditton near the Scilly Isles opposite the Co-Op that have helped me in the past.
