I'm going to Belfast by myself tomorrow - please help me with travel!

Hello

I have booked myself a small adventure. Flying into Belfast City Airport (not the International one) at back of 9am tomorrow.

I'm booked into Crumlin Jail at 10.30am then Titanic at 1pm. Then back to airport for about 6pm.

Can anyone assist me please on the best way to get between these places? They don't look far apart on the map. But I'm struggling to work out if I'm best using buses or a taxi.

Thanks

Public transport is a bit of a nightmare here at the minute - lots of delays and service changes since the beginning of the month due to the final stages of building work for the new Grand Central Station opening in Autumn.

For ease I’d get a taxi from the airport to Crumlin Road Gaol, then another to Titanic. Although in distance they are close together you’d need to get 2 separate (often unreliable) buses which would be quite time consuming considering you’re in a rush. From there I’d get the train back from Titanic to Sydenham, then it’s just a 10 minute walk to the airport. 5 hours at Titanic is a lot, it’s not a massive exhibition so you could even choose to take the short, scenic walk or the G2 bus into Belfast city centre to go and explore a bit more.

Also - download the Translink journey planner app and the MLink ticket app. Will be very useful!

@PollencaCalling thank you so much! MN is so useful for this sort of thing!

If you ever need tips on getting round Edinburgh, hmu! :-)

Sydenham train station is across the road from the airport, and iirc it's one stop from titanic quarter. The museum is half a mile from the station. Hope that helps with your journey back!

If you get bored at titanic you can easily walk to the city centre and get nice food before you go. There are buses at city hall that will take you back to the airport

Thank you all! So much more reassuring to ask humans than rely on my reading of maps and bus timetables!

Just reporting back that I successfully saw Crumlin Jail, some murals and the Titanic Experience all in one day! I did most of it by taxi as I was pushed for time.

I am tonight very glad that I live in the 21st century and am not a Victorian prisoner, a shipbuilder or a third class passenger!

Thanks again for your help.
