10 year old and 13 year old gift ideas

I would really appreciate some help!! My friends are coming to visit and are bringing their 2 girls with them (13 and 10). I haven't seen these girls in years and am not really too sure of their tastes.

I want to put together a little fist pack for their beds for when they arrive. Some ideas I have are: Zara Pyjamas each, a little bag with fun cosmetics like Sephora face masks, sleep masks, lip balm etc.

But I would also like to get them something else? Any ideas on toys? Or are they too old (this is really for the 10 year old). What about some Nike Pro shorts or leggings for the 13 year old?

Any help would be much appreciated...

Pyjamas/leggings might be awkward if you get the wrong size.
My daughter wouldn't have been interested in face packs etc.
Maybe some ordinary toiletries like shower gel/bubble bath, body spray, a cute sponge (Primark usually sell them in novelty shapes like ice lollies or fruit) in a cute washbag.
Maybe a Squishmallow each for them (even 13 year olds love a Squishmallow).
A cute fleecy blanket maybe?

I’d get them each a nice sketchpad or diary and coloured pens.

I'd say no makeup/skincare, it can be really bad for acne which they deffo have.

Sleep mask, a power bank, fake oodies from primark and a squishmallow.

Difficult if you don’t know them . My 13 and 9 year old girls would love skincare etc but not sure all girls would . Fluffy socks or clay bead sets could be good .

Lovely suggestions.
I agree with that.

Plus you can add some packets with sweets.

This is lovely shop, my child is 10 and is obsessed with it. minisoshop.co.uk/

Agree with no skincare stuff - my daughter has eczema so it wouldn’t get used. Could you also throw in some novelty socks or fluffy ones (always a win) perhaps a small amount of cash (£10 maybe) and take them to your local shop / shops so they can spend it. At that age my daughter loved that even if it was just your local corner shop / that way they can choose a magazine and some
sweets they like.

Moonlaserbearwolf · 09/07/2024 08:53

What a lovely idea. Some girls that age wouldn’t be interested in face packs/lip balm etc, though others would love it. You would be safer with things like….
fluffy socks
fluffy blanket
Notepad/pens
hot water bottle (or one of those cuddly toys you put in the microwave)
sweets/chocolate

Skincare can be a minefield. Cheap "fun" stuff cause both my dc to react.
Pjs are no good if you get the wrong size.,
DS(12) would love you forever if you hit her fluffy socks,a squishmallow and drawing stuff.

This is amazing, thank you!!

I have swerved skincare and got them hair wrap towels, eye masks for sleeping, notepads, cute highlighter pens, some stationary stuff, a squishmallow each (watermelon and avocado)...

I need to get some nice pens and some socks and we are good I think!

Thank you!!!

I have a few days until they arrive so if there is anything else please let me know ☺️

Well my 12 year old ( would most definitely love the skincare and make up) requested those letter beads to make bracelets. ( we are off to see Taylor Swift). Absolutely accept that she is not representative of every 12 year old.

Divebar2021 · 09/07/2024 09:52

PS you sound lovely

DinnaeFashYersel · 09/07/2024 10:02

My DD (12) would detest all that girly stuff

You need to check these girls like that sort of thing and don't assume.

Not all girls are into 'cute'

Notepads, pens, socks, sweets are pretty safe but they don't have to be cute, pink and girly.

Perfect!

I dislike encouraging teenage girls to paint their faces, good call.

Nosygirl01 · 12/07/2024 22:10

What about the fake Stanley’s that all young girls seem obsessed with? Home bargains do a lovely one for around £5

Swiftie1878 · 12/07/2024 22:29

Aren’t you just lovely!!!

Have a great time xx

Welshmonster · 12/07/2024 22:47

Have a look at setting and screen time as you can set it to only be on between certain hours. Then it doesn’t matter if she sneaks in as it won’t work.
