Has anyone flown from Birmingham airport in the last couple of weeks?

There were reports of massive queues a few weeks ago, due to some building work and security processes taking longer. People were being told to allow 4 hours to check in, rather than the usual 2. Does anyone know if that’s still the case? Nothing on the website and obviously the customer services phone number doesn’t get answered. Our flight is early - 7am - so getting there 4 hours early vs 2 hours early makes a big difference!

Yes! Last Monday (so only a week ago).

Queues for check in were very quick, but the queue for security took forever. We arrived almost 3 hours before our flight and had to run to make it to the gate.
Airport staff were going along the queue asking for people whose flights were imminent and letting them jump the queue (checking boarding passes to make sure they were genuine).

No time to grab breakfast etc….flight was at 6.40am. Good luck!

My ds flew on Monday, I flew Wednesday. Monday, he went to security at 7.30 and queued for 15 minutes. I got to security at 04.30 and queued until 05.30 at which point I only just made it to the boarding card gate thing and they started calling for people on flights up to 6.25 to make themselves known and got taken around to the scanners directly - I think it would have been another hour.
