Comfortable & effective noise cancelling headphones

Not for music - just for peace and quiet when surroundings are noisy. Even at home when TV/radio is too loud but also to wear in the car, on the train and even at night if comfortable enough. Which ones are brilliantly effective AND brilliantly comfortable?

Loops? They have different sensitivities.

Mine are Sony earbuds and they are brilliant but I use them for music too.

I've had 3 pairs of Bose noise cancelling headphones which I loved, but I hate to admit my current Apple AirPods pros 2 are better. I use them on silent all the time and they are amazing especially if you replace the tips with COMPLY Premium Memory Foam Earphones Tips.

If you're an Apple user they integrate with iOS and Mac OS, and find my etc.

Dailyprocrastinator · 07/07/2024 22:10

Bose for me - love them

Wherearemymarbles · 07/07/2024 22:11

Sony 1000xm5 have supposedly best noise cancelling but are about £220…
so why not get custom fitted ear plugs instead
About £100 so or plus some money to get moulds made say £25.

The Sony are very comfortable, the custom fit ones you could wear for 24 hours and not notice you had them in.

I had no idea that you could get Apple earphones that are actively noise cancelling! So they are good even without playing music through them? I have an iPhone and Apple Watch so will investigate these. Thank you.

TBH I didn't expect "in ear" to be as good as "over ear" for noise cancelling, but the apple ones are phenomenally good. I use them most of the time without playing anything, I use them on planes, buses, trains and in a noisy office.

They are quite expensive, but I don't regret the cost.
I suggest naming them with your phone number or email, in case you loose them.

There are some fake ones around, so I would suggest buying them off Apple.

My Samsung Galaxy Buds Pro 2 are good at cancelling outside noise & you can adjust them to how much you want to block out.

The apple over ear headphones are absolutely amazing. So comfortable and extremely effective for noise cancelling.

I don't have any but dd does.
I use AirPod pros which are brilliant but comfortable in a different way

Thank you all. I’ve just treated myself to AirPod pro 2s. Ordered from John Lewis as I had some gift vouchers and they come with a 2 year warranty from there.
I will report back once they’ve been delivered and I’ve tried them out.
